On Monday.
Dom sighed as he walked into his office, he brought out his laptop and sat down at his desk.
He knew that he had so much work to do, but he just couldn't bring himself to focus on that in the moment.
As much as he did not have the will to focus, he knew that he would have to work on all the important things he had left unfinished throughout the weekend.
He hated his work piling up like this, and that was why he always made sure to keep up tabs on everything, but this weekend, he did no work at all, he just couldn't.
How could he work when his personal life was a mess. He honestly just felt tired. If only he could take a break from work for a week just for him to find a way to settle all his personal problems, but there was no way he could.
Dom opened his laptop as the landline on his desk rang and he picked it up.
"Welcome back Sir." came the voice of his secretary as she greeted him. She had worked here for six years and not once in any of those six years has Dom ever left the office for the weekend to take care of personal matters.
To be honest, she was worried for her boss, she knew that it had to be a very serious personal issue for him to leave his work for the amount of time that he did.
"Thank you, it feels good to be back." replied Dom.
"Is everything fine Sir? Has everything at home been resolved?" asked the secretary, on a normal day she would not have even bothered asking, but she had known Dom long enough to feel that he at least needed to know that the people in the office cared about him.
"Everything is fine, thank you for asking." replied Dom.
"You are welcome Sir, I just want to be sure that everything is okay, because if not, I can assure you that you can take off as much time as you need while we handle things over here." she said.
"That's very considerate of you, thank you, it means a lot to know that you care so much, but I am fine and ready to work. I have left many things pending, so what do you have for me?" asked Dom as he smiled.
"Alright sir, you have a meeting at 10, or I mean you are supposed to, but I doubt it will hold, so I scheduled that time for you to check the city centre warehouse. I received a call from Mr. Cilay he claims that the goods he ordered were not all delivered." said the secretary.
"I can just send someone to go and double check if we truly received all his orders." said Dom.
"I suggested that sir, but he refused, he said that it's either you check for it yourself or he won't settle the balance he has left." said the secretary as Dom sighed.
"Alright, alright, anything else?" asked Dom as the secretary checked through the files on her table.
"We need your signature for the charity fund your mother is funding, and you also need to sign some new contracts." said the secretary.
"Alright, anything else?" asked Dom as the secretary smiled and waved at someone who was at her desk.
"No sir, that is all, but Mr. Michael is here to see you." she said.
"Alright, let him in, thank you." said Dom as he put down the landline and Michael walked into his office.
"Is it only me or do you look terrible?" asked Michael as he sat down across Dom.
"I also feel terrible Michael, believe me." replied Dom.
"Haven't you been getting enough sleep or what?" asked Michael as Dom shook his head.
"So how are things?" asked Michael.
"One word, bad..." said Dom.
"Is it because of Natasha or..." asked Michael as Dom shook his head.
"I really wish it was, because I would understand why, but it's Lulu, ever since she came back home yesterday she's been nagging me nonstop, I don't know what exactly she wants me to do anyway." said Dom with a sigh.
"Oh you know Lulu, she'll find someone else to nag very soon." said Michael as Dom chuckled coldly.
"I take it as you already know what you want to do to fix things between you and Natasha?" asked Michael.
"More or less..." replied Dom.
"That's good." said Michael.
"I need you to do me a favour, call the family lawyer for me, I haven't been able to reach him all morning, where is he?" asked Dom.
"Ahh, he's on vacation, his daughter just got married on an island so he took his leave as part of a mini-vacation." replied Michael.
"Congratulations to him, but I need him to do some things for him, when you reach him tell me." said Dom.
"Will do, is there anything you want me to tell him?" asked Michael.
"No I will explain it to him myself." said Dom.
"Alright then." replied Michael.
"Dom, just don't be too hard on yourself... sure you made a mistake, but we all make mistakes, sure you took too long before you came to this realization, but we are all human, you shouldn't be to hard on yourself." said Michael.
"The fact that Natasha doesn't seem to care should be an indication to you that she's already forgiven you, you didn't say that she constantly brings up the topic now does she?" asked Michael as Dom shook his head.
"But I know Natasha, Michael, I know her, she hasn't really forgiven me even though she says so, and she has every right to, she didn't deserve the way I treated her." said Dom.
"And I don't argue with that, all I'm saying is just stop thinking about it, because at this rate you'll end up with white hairs all over your head, I can even see one now." said Michael as he chuckled and Dom did not seem to find his words funny at all.
"Ha, ha, ha, very funny." replied Dom in sarcasm.
"Dom, relax okay? Everything will be alright, don't worry, I will get in touch with the family lawyer by the end of the day." said Michael.
"It doesn't have to be today, let him enjoy his daughter's wedding." replied Dom as Michael laughed.
"We're not paying him for him not to be available when he need him, besides, the wedding was on Saturday, he's probably just relaxing at a resort." said Michael as he laughed.
"This kind of makes me wonder how it will be like when we're all getting ready for Joy's wedding." said Michael as Dom's face instantly soured at his words causing Michael to burst out laughing.
"What?? Why does your face look like that?" asked Michael as he laughed.
"Don't go too far Michael, don't go that far, Joy is only five, gosh she doesn't even know how to tie her shoes yet, why jump to her getting married so soon?" asked Dom in annoyance as Michael just continued laughing.
"But Dom, it's going to happen someday." said Michael.
"Someday in the very far future, stop giving me even more to worry about." said Dom as Michael was just laughing.
"Wow, some father you are, why are you so against the idea? You do know she's going to grow up and get married someday." said Michael.
"Yes, someday and not today, or next week, or next month, or next year." said Dom.
"How about instead of wondering about my daughter's future wedding you wonder about your own wedding." said Dom.
"When are you getting married anyway?" asked Dom as his question was enough to put an end to Michael's laughter.
"Do you see me with a fiancé or a girlfriend anywhere?" asked Michael.
"Well go find one, you know age isn't on your side anymore, how old are you again? thirty seven...?" asked Dom in sarcasm.
"Ha, ha, very funny Dom, I'm not that old." said Michael as he replied in sarcasm.
"Besides, I'm not just going to rush into anything and find someone just out of the blue." said Michael.
"If I've learnt anything from your sorry to say 'failed' marriage, I know that rushing into a commitment like that without any true love is bound to fail so... yes, don't expect me to get married any time soon." said Michael.
"Wow, thanks Michael for reminding me of my failure of a marriage, it really lifts up my spirits." said Dom mockingly as Michael chuckled.
"Oh you'll be fine Dom, believe me, now let me leave you to work, so you don't end up having to work later than you would like to." said Michael as he smiled and Dom shook his head.
"Whatever, you can leave now, and I expect the financial statements from the German deal today." said Dom seriously.
"Well that's not my job to take care of, it's Charlie's." replied Michael.
"Then where is Charlie?" asked Dom.
"It beats me. I haven't seen him since yesterday and he didn't come to work today." said Michael as Dom let out an already stressed sigh. Charlie wasn't even here and yet he was already making his work much more harder.
"Then how am I supposed to get those records? I need them today." said Dom.
"Don't worry about that, I will look for them in his office." said Michael as he stood up and rushed to go find the documents as Dom sighed and shook his head.
It was too early for him to be getting this stressed already.
