"You aren't supposed to rot in jail, Igor is" said Natasha with so much hate it was hard to mistake her rage to which Romanoff just smiled, he knew that she wanted revenge, but it wouldn't be fair or balanced at all for him to say that he was innocent, when he clearly wasn't.
"I didn't know that you cared so much for me devochka (girl)" said Romanoff with a smile.
"I don't, I just don't like how my plans all went awry because you showed up and not him, why did things change?" asked Natasha in annoyance.
"Long and short Igor is a slimy snake rat bastard, if anything he has immense luck on his side" replied Romanoff as Natasha scoffed.
"The organization won't just leave you here right?" asked Natasha.
"Well devochka (girl), that I cannot say after all they won't want to involve themselves in something as complicated as this, they will ask questions, questions that I won't be able to answer without getting a harsh reprimanding for" said Romanoff.
"This can either go two ways, one being my freedom, and the other being killed or rotting in jail which are the same" said Romanoff.
"But they won't dare do that to you, you are one of their best agents you have served them diligently for many years, they can't just discard you like that" said Natasha.
"Well they can and they will, it doesn't matter if I have served them for 100 years, once you become a liability or threat to them they will discard you" said Romanoff as Natasha frowned and sighed, so much for Romanoff having power, he was nothing but a pawn that could be taken off the board anytime they wished.
"Something has to be done, something can be done" said Natasha as whether she liked it or not, Romanoff was a huge part of her life even before she knew it, and he was a good man past all the tough exterior he wore, he didn't deserve to be locked up in here due to her actions that were targeted at someone else.
"Cooperate with me and I am sure that I can get you out of here and get Igor here instead" said Natasha.
"Not possible devochka (girl), if anything Igor is an agent they really care about, and knowing that slimy bastard he left the country first chance he got when he saw what unravelled last night" said Romanoff with a scoff.
"So you mean to say that he was there?" asked Natasha.
"That he was, he saw everything unfold, he was busy watching from the shadows like the coward it was, it would be a tough fight to find him now" said Romanoff.
"What about Alyssa? She can help you find him" said Natasha.
"I don't want to bring her into this and even if she finds him, she will end up putting herself in danger" said Romanoff.
"Why does it sound like you are resisting any suggestion I give you??" asked Natasha as she didn't get it, did he want to go to prison or what?
"Because there is no need fighting an already lost battle devochka (girl), it is me versus them, and now the American government who have all my files" said Romanoff with a smile as Natasha sighed.
"Then what about admitting to your crimes and renouncing the organization, it would be a way out" said Natasha.
"No I can't do that, that is not an option" replied Romanoff.
"And why not??" asked Natasha as she didn't get it.
"Because loyalty devochka (girl), loyalty" replied Romanoff.
"To hell with the loyalty Romanoff, don't you mention loyalty to me, what sort of loyalty can you possibly have left when the people you are loyal to won't even try to help" said Natasha in anger.
"Well what can I say? I am loyal to the end" said Romanoff with a smile.
"No you are being stupid and unreasonable to the end" said Natasha.
"If I tell Dians the truth, he might be able to help you" said Natasha.
"Don't do that, I don't want you to get yourself into trouble" said Romanoff.
"I won't be getting myself into any trouble" replied Natasha.
"I am warning you, do not do anything, I am sure your husband will agree with me" said Romanoff.
"And I don't care for his opinion" said Natasha.
"What is Jean going to think? Does she even know that you're in here?" asked Natasha.
"Jeanie will be fine, and yes I told her yesterday" said Romanoff.
"You don't seem like you want to fight for this" said Natasha.
"As a man that has been taught to fight his entire life… as you young people would say, I kind of got tired of fighting" said Romanoff as Natasha could not believe what she was hearing right now.
"Let's face it devochka (girl), I am not as young as I used to be, I've seen the entire world, being locked up is nothing new at all, I have faced immense torture, what's happening now is nothing compared to the bed of nails that I have faced in my life" said Romanoff.
"So I beg you, please drop this matter and don't speak about it again, because what will happen, will happen" said Romanoff as Natasha sighed.
"Fine Romanoff, if that's what you want, then fine" replied Natasha.
"Thank you" replied Romanoff with a certain calmness.
"I have your gun" said Natasha as she clutched her brown handbag.
"What do you want me to do with it? Should I give it to Jean?" asked Natasha.
"No Natasha, I want you to have it, keep it, as a gift from me to you" said Romanoff as he smiled and Natasha looked at him.
"But it's your gun, your favourite gun" said Natasha.
"I know, it was passed down from my father to me, and now I am giving it to you, something to remember me by, take good care of it" said Romanoff as honestly he had already accepted his fate.
"You make it sound as if you are going to die" said Natasha with a scoff as Romanoff laughed happily.
"Maybe, maybe not, who knows?" asked Romanoff as he laughed.
"I hate you, I want to help you and you won't let me" said Natasha.
"And you are like your mother in appearance and heart, don't worry about me, I will be fine" said Romanoff as he smiled.
"You know what, if you say so, take care Romanoff" said Natasha as she sighed internally.
"And take care of yourself too Natasha" said Romanoff with a smile as Natasha turned around and walked out of the cell locking it behind her as all Romanoff did was smile.
…
Natasha was walking out of the police station when she heard someone call her name.
"Natasha" called Jean as Natasha turned to the left to see her walking right towards her.
"Jean, I didn't know you were coming" said Natasha.
"Yeah well me too, but dad asked me to bring him some change of clothes… did you see him?" asked Jean with a smile.
"Yes I did…" replied Natasha as she felt even more guilty seeing Jean here.
"What did he say?" asked Jean.
"A lot, but he said that what will happen will happen, he doesn't want me to help him" said Natasha with a sigh.
"Typical of dad to be that stubborn" said Jean as she sighed.
"Jean, I'm so sorry, Romanoff is in this situation because of me" said Natasha with guilt written all over her face.
"What do you mean?" asked Jean in confusion.
"The only reason they caught him was because of me, I wanted to get revenge but Romanoff got caught instead, I'm so sorry, he's locked up because I caused it" said Natasha.
"On Natasha what on earth are you saying?? This is no time to be guilty, you did nothing wrong" said Jean as she smiled.
"But I did, aren't you the tiniest bit upset that your dad is locked up because of my actions?" asked Natasha.
"Not at all Natasha, this isn't your fault, stop blaming yourself, I'm not upset neither am I angry" replied Jean happily.
"You aren't?" asked Natasha.
"No of course not silly" replied Jean as she smiled.
"Look, I knew from the get go that my dad wasn't a saint, and he admitted to it and told me that he has done some very horrible things which I understand and don't blame him for" said Jean.
"Even though he's good now, he still has a past, a very criminal one for that matter" said Jean.
"I knew that sooner or later, his past mistakes would catch up to him, let's be honest, my dad is truly a criminal, we both know that, and after years of evading the law, karma finally caught up to him" said Jean.
"It's just unfortunate that it happened when you were involved, but it's his consequence for his actions" said Jean.
"I'm just happy that I got to meet my dad and know him before all this happened, because on the inside, he's such a sweet, gooey man, and I am proud to have him as my dad" said Jean as she beamed happily.
"Right now, I'm only hoping that when he's charged he will be sentenced to serve for his crimes here" said Jean.
"I would be so devastated if he was taken to jail in Russia, it would mean that I won't get to see him again, and that would just make me so sad" said Jean.
"I can imagine Jean" said Natasha as she sighed.
"So don't feel guilty for something you couldn't obviously control, it's not your fault and I don't blame you, and dad doesn't blame you either, I know it" said Jean as she hugged Natasha and Natasha felt a little bit better.
"Besides we are family and we need to stick together" said Jean as she laughed.
"We are not even related" replied Natasha as she laughed.
"Who said that you need to be related by blood before you can be family?" asked Jean as she laughed and broke their hug.
"True" replied Natasha as she laughed.
"Well let me go now, I'll call you later Bye" said Jean as she smiled and Natasha smiled at her as she walked away.
