Chapter 197 - The confidence

"Give me a reason why I should just kill you now devochka (Girl)" said the man as he held Natasha neck, and she knew that she had to act fast now or else.

Natasha did not know why, but she felt like he would not kill her, even though he was holding on to her neck right now, he was not squeezing her neck, rather he was just holding her neck in place so she would not move.

The man stared at Natasha as she looked at him and she stayed silent, he felt like there was something familiar about her, from her ginger hair, to her brown eyes, and the eye catching red lipstick on her lips, but he did not want to jump to conclusions, he was not sure that his only good eye was seeing right.

But he knew for sure that he had seen this same devochka (girl), yesterday at the warehouse when all that chaos was going on, he knew that he should not let her live, he was suspicious of her, if need be, he would actually kill her right here right now, he had his gun with him, and coincidentally his silencer was still on.

"I have no time for this" said the man as he scoffed and he pulled out his gun.

"The dandelion grows where the dandelion knows" said Natasha as the man slowly put his gun down and he let go of her neck as he took a step back and he narrowed his eyes at her.

Natasha looked at him with many questions in her eyes, she did not think that saying that would actually work, but it popped into her head, she was sure that it was some sort of code, she had managed to decipher the code, she had seen on the many postcards, in fact the reason she was able to find him was because of all the postcards he had sent to her mother.

"Kto ty? (Who are you?)" asked the man as he narrowed his eyes at her, he had put his guard down.

"I should be the one asking you that" said Natasha as she understood him, she was not scared of him, no far from it, she just wanted him to answer all her questions, she wanted to know who he was.

"Aren't you Clark?" asked Natasha as she narrowed her eyes at him.

"Haha, I go by many names" said the man as he laughed and he put his gun back in his jacket pocket. Natasha did not know what he found so funny.

"Then who exactly are you?" asked Natasha as she was getting patient.

"You have the confidence to ask me questions when I can just kill you right now" said the man as he laughed, his voice sounded chilling, which made Natasha wince, his voice was so cold, but she was not going to stand down now, no not now, no after everything she had done to find him, and now he was here, standing right in front of her.

"If you wanted me dead, you would have killed me a long time ago" said Natasha, and she was not only talking about right now.

"Pravil'nyy (Correct)" said the man as he smiled, but it was not a friendly smile, she was very intelligent, the fact that she knew he would have killed her a long time ago showed that she was actually thinking, it was then that he knew who she was… now he was sure, her wits, her face, her looks, the way she looked so confident, he only knew one woman who could act so fearless with him, and she was dead, so the little devochka (girl) standing in front of him now, could be none other than her.

"What is your mother's name?" asked the man.

"Ivanka Mikhailovna Mikhailova" replied Natasha.

"Ivanka" said the man to himself as he knew it all along, Natasha just looked too much like her mother, it was like he was seeing her again, he would have cried… if he was weak, which he was not.

"How did you find me?" asked the man.

"I have answered all your questions, now it Is your turn to answer all of mine" said Natasha as she was not going to answer any other questions until he told her what she needed to know, she did not come all the way here, miss her baby's 5th birthday, and hire three men, just because she wanted to answer all his questions.

"Fair enough" said the man as he smiled.

"Who are you exactly?" asked Natasha as she had been trying to find this man, and she did not even know his true identity.

"I mean, what is your name… your real name" said Natasha as she was specific because she had a feeling that this man was cunning.

"Romanoff Antonovich Ivanov" said the man as he smiled.

He had brown hair that was starting to turn white, he had brown eyes, there was a black eyepatch on his left eye, and there was a little scar leading from his eye to his eye brow, it was in the shape of a dagger.

"Romanoff" said Natasha as she was trying to see if she could remember this man, but she could not, his name was not familiar, but his face was.

"Yes devochka (girl)" said Romanoff as he smiled.

"You have gotten so big Natasha, last time I saw you, you were the size of a cat" said Romanoff as he smiled and Natasha scrunched her face, she did not tell him her name, how did he know her name?

"How do you know my name?" asked Natasha.

"Oh devochka (girl), I know more than your name" said Romanoff as he smiled.

"Your birthday is November 29th, your shoe size is size 8, on the 5th of December 2002 you cried because you sprained your ankle and you were unable to continue the football match with your high school team, who were called the Eagrettess" said Romanoff as he smiled and Natasha could not help but be surprised, he knew almost everything about her.

"How do you know all that?" asked Natasha.

"Well I have been watching you since you were a little girl" said Romanoff as he smiled, he had been watching her, but he had lost track of her five years ago, he had more important things to do, but who knew that she would end up coming to look for him instead.

He had always stayed and watched her in a distance, it was safer for her that way.

"And why is that?" asked Natasha.

"Your mother…" said Romanoff as he paused.

"Your mother was like a sister to me" said Romanoff as he smiled.

"I watched her grow up, from when she was a little girl… to a woman" said Romanoff.

"I trained her under my wing, and she was the best agent our entire organization has had" said Romanoff as he smiled, he figured that if Natasha was here, she already knew basically everything.

"You… cared for her very much?" asked Natasha.

"More than that, I protected her first before myself… but then she decided to betray the country, and well, everything Is history after that" said Romanoff as he shrugged.

"Do you know why she was killed?" asked Natasha.

"There is nothing to know, as they say, traitors never live long" said Romanoff as he smiled.

"But she did what was right" said Natasha.

"There is no right or wrong devochka (girl), there is only doing what you are told to do, and if you don't punishment comes" said Romanoff.

"You look so much like her, I never though she could be a mother" said Romanoff as he smiled, it did not sound like he was being offensive at all, but more like he was proud of it.

"I don't remember her, because if you know… she died when I was five" said Natasha.

"Yes I know… I was there when she died" said Romanoff as he kept that last part to herself.

"You couldn't protect her?" asked Natasha as she felt very bad right now, it was getting more real that her mother was actually killed, it was horrifying.

"I had orders to follow" said Romanoff.

"What do you mean by orders?" asked Natasha as she narrowed her eyes at Romanoff as he did not reply.

"Romanoff, don't stay quiet, what do you mean by you had to follow orders?" asked Natasha.

"I was sent to kill her, and so I did" said Romanoff non chantly, if there was one thing he learnt in all his years, it was to be heartless, or else you would end up being killed.

"You… you killed her?" asked Natasha with wide eyes as she felt like she was in a nightmare, her mother's killer was here, right here standing in front of her with no remorse at all.

"That's the truth, I cannot lie to you" said Romanoff.

"Didn't you say that she was like a sister to you?" asked Natasha as she stopped tears from dropping from her eyes.

"Yes she was, but I have duties to carry out" said Romanoff.

"You killed my mother!" said Natasha as she raised her voice.

"That Is just how things are" said Romanoff casually.

"She was your best agent" said Natasha.

"She knew what she was getting herself into" replied Romanoff.

"How am I sure that you will not just kill me too?" asked Natasha as Romanoff went quiet, and he took a step forward closer to Natasha.

"The question you should be asking is if you will do anything that will require me to kill you" said Romanoff as he smiled in a very chilling way.
