[Leona's P.O.V.]
I heard the hooting of owls. The trees in the forest rustled as if a ghost was hiding amongst them. The cold wind blew against me, causing me to shiver.
I turned around to look at the pack and recalled my father's cold attitude toward me when he took Cassie with him.
In that instant, my hesitation disappeared, and I walked resolutely into the forest.
I would rather die at the hands of the vampires than go back and suffer the cold stares of others.
As I walked into the forest, I realized that it was even colder than the entrance. I felt a worm crawl over my leg and hit it hard, but nothing was there.
After walking for a while, I heard a strange and sudden sound coming from ahead. It was like the sound of a mouth chewing on food.
I held my breath and stopped walking. The next moment, the sound of chewing also stopped.
Then I heard footsteps. It sounded like there was more than one person.
