Chapter 2 - A Mysterious Power

[Leona's P.O.V. ]

"Leona! Run!"

Mom placed me on the ground and yelled with all her might.

I saw the man curse and reach out to grab Mom's skirt. With a rip, the skirt was torn, and Mom's fair thighs were exposed.

The man took the opportunity to stand up. He grabbed my mother's long hair and pulled it back forcefully. As he pulled, he roared, "I initially came for the Alpha's daughter, but it's not bad to be able to capture his wife now!"

"Don't even think about it!" Mom screamed and struggled. She was about to erupt into her werewolf form.

The six-year-old me was scared out of my wits. When I saw Mom fall into the hands of the bad guys, I didn't know where she got the courage to rush up and kick the man.

Unfortunately, she was too weak. She was kicked to the ground by the man.

He was no longer interested in the little girl in front of him. He only wanted to bring the struggling she-wolf back to his pack.

"You damn b*tch! I'm going to drag you back to the cellar to ravage you, rape you, and make your life a living hell!" The man's facial expressions were fierce and hideous, and his mouth was full of vulgarities.

However, Mom didn't seem to hear him. She turned her head desperately to look at the six-year-old me and repeatedly shouted, "Leona! Run! Run!"

Only then did the little girl react and turn around to run home.

My ghostly body floated home with her. As she grabbed Dad's hand, I saw her crying, "Mommy's been taken by bad guys! Please, help her!"

I stood aside and cried as hard as she did.

Because I knew that even if she brought Dad there, she wouldn't be able to save my mother.

I saw my father's face filled with shock as he picked her up and ran out. Andrew, who had already returned, followed them.

When they finally arrived at the same place, they found that the man had already driven away.

My poor mother was left in a strange posture. She lay motionless in a pool of blood.

"Ava!" Dad rushed over in pain in the dream and helped Mom's body up from the ground.

This poor man tried everything to wake his lover up, but she wasn't responding at all. She was like a rag doll abandoned in a garbage heap.

I saw Andrew and the six-year-old me gather around and once again heard my father's agonizing words: "She's dead! Ava's Dead!"

…

I woke up in tears and found my pillow wet again with tears from my sleep.

This wasn't the first time I had dreamed of my mother's death.

In fact, I often recalled it in my dreams after she was killed by that strange man.

As I get older, I dream about it more and more. So much so that I could not believe it. I always felt like God was trying to tell me something through this dream.

Mom could always tell no matter what Andrew and I did when I was a kid. Her blue eyes were beautiful and mysterious, as if they could see right into people's souls.

No matter how hard Andrew and I tried to hide from her the trouble we got into, Mom would always catch us and tell us not to make the same mistake again.

I remember one day when she came out with a pile of freshly laundered clothes to dry in the sun. I asked her curiously why nothing about Andrew and I could escape her eyes.

The air was filled with the faint smell of detergent, and Mom smiled as she dried her clothes. Under the sun, she looked like a beauty from a fairy tale.

She walked over and touched my face with her slightly cold and wet hand. She smiled and said, "That's because I have the blood of the Constellation Pack flowing through my body. I have a mysterious power that can see through people's minds."

"Where do the werewolves from the Constellation Pack live?" My young self asked curiously.

My mother straightened up and looked at the clouds in the sky with some sadness, "Because the Constellation Pack's bloodline is rare, they have already been wiped out due to the plundering of other races..."

She looked down at me. The sadness in her eyes had not faded, but a gentle smile appeared on her lips.

She touched my soft hair and said, "Maybe you will also have this mysterious power one day."

"Does father know about this?"

"Maybe." My mother looked relaxed and continued to hang the clothes. "There are things that you gain, and there are things that you lose. It's best not to let others know about this."

Now that she was no longer around, I could no longer tell her the fact that after Andrew accidentally pushed me down the stairs when I was 12 years old, and I almost broke my neck, I also possessed the mysterious power that she had mentioned.

That day, I fell to the ground in a strange position. It was so painful that I couldn't even move. However, an electric current-like tingle flashed through my mind.

The next moment, I was able to read Andrew's mind through his arrogant smile.

He was ridiculing me with profanities, cursing me to fall to my death so as not to bring bad luck to the Dark Moon Pack.

My father walked over unwillingly, scolded Andrew, and then helped me up from the ground in a rough manner.

Werewolves had strong vitality, so small bumps like these were nothing to us. Therefore, he never even thought of sending me to the hospital. He just let me lie on the sofa without moving.

I looked into his eyes and could hear the voice in his mind, 'This d*mned girl, what bad luck!'.
