"Rise and shine sweetheart. " Rebecca sang as she swayed into Emily's room.
"Mom?" She called as she sat up, squinting her eyes.
She took her phone and checked the time, it was 8:15am.
"Why are you awake so early? You don't wake up till it's almost 10:00am. "
"It's Saturday Em, your morning tea?. " She said and raised her brows in a 'remember? ' Kind of way.
"Oh, how can I forget the tea that nourishes my body?" Emiy scoffed
"Make fun of it all you want, but believe me, it's good for you. Now freshen up and come downstairs. " Rebecca said and walked out.
Emily groaned and got out of bed, she paused and try to recollect how she got on her bed, the last thing she remembered was standing at her window and staring incessantly at the sky.
She shook the thoughts off and slowly ambulated to her bathroom. As soon as Emily was done, she went downstairs to meet her mother.
"Here you go. " Rebecca said, handing her a cup of tea, after she sat down.
"Why do you always make me this tea, three times a week? " Emily asked.
"I told you Em, it's good for your health. " Rebecca answered.
"Then why don't you take it as well? Or don't you want to be nourished? And how come you never forgot when I'm supposed to take it? You've been doing this since I turned fifteen. " Emily said.
"I'm your mother, and the duty of a mother is to care for their child, Now drink up. " Rebecca said and went to the kitchen.
Emily gulped down the little tea, she pressed her eyes close as it burns down her throat to her stomach, she held tightly to her stomach and winced in pain. She was aware that the tea burns, but not as it did today.
Her phone rang, catching her attention, she peeped at her phone screen to check who was calling. She gasped, it was Giselle, how could she have forgotten? They always go out together on every Saturday morning.
She rose from the couch and hurried off to her room, knowing how stylish Giselle was, She decided to look for something better that her usual T-shirts and trousers in order not to look like her drudge when they walk together.
Giselle called again and she ignored it, getting into the black chiffon top and dark blue skirt, her phone rang again, while she was combing her hair. She quickly dropped the comb and answered her phone.
"Why have you been ignoring my call? " Giselle asked on the phone. She gasped, "Don't tell me you're still in bed. "
"I'm not in bed, and where are you? " Emily asked.
"I'm standing at the front of your house. I'm coming in now. " She said.
"You're what-? " She tried to talk, but Giselle ended the call.
Emily quickly dressed her bed before stepping out.
Giselle was downstairs with Emily's mother, they seemed to be discussing something important.
"Hey Em. " Giselle said immediately her gaze fell on Emily.
They left the house after Rebecca had given them a boundless list of precautions.
"Where are you going? " Giselle asked.
"Where else? The junction. " Emily answered.
"Why do you want to use your leg when there's a car? " Giselle asked, pressing the car remote and moving towards it, it was a black jeep.
"When did you get a car? " Emily asked.
"Are you coming or do you want to remain standing there? " Giselle asked, winding down the car window.
"It's my dad's car, he didn't know that I took it. What he doesn't know doesn't hurt him. "She said when Emily finally got in the car.
"We are heading to the mall now because we need to change this old fashioned clothes you always wear, oh, and what happened to the one we bought before? " Giselle asked.
"I'm ok the way I'm dressed, I just want to look simple. " Emily answered.
"There are many other pretty dresses that can make you look simple, we're getting you some new clothes and you must wear them. " Giselle said, Emily scoffed and looked out the window, Giselle started the car and zoomed off.
