"No. I've been waiting for you to come home."
Mariano walked past the nurse and turned around when he was about two steps away from her.
"By the way, what's your name?"
The nurse pouted her lips. She was clearly annoyed that Mariano didn't know her name.
"Linda."
Mariano looked at her for a second and then continued walking to Iris's room. Iris opened her door wider, silently inviting Mariano to enter, and then closed the door behind her without giving the nurse a glance.
"I didn't know that her name is Linda," she said.
"Don't feel bad about not knowing her name. I'm the one who took her but I don't know her name either."
Iris rolled her eyes at Mariano. "I don't feel bad about not knowing her name."
Mariano's chuckle caught in his throat when he noticed another presence in the room. He did not expect to see her in Iris's room.
"Hello, there," he said, grinning.
