She stood clear from the ongoing traffic on Thirteen Avenue. There was still some sun but its cruel sun rays were no longer burning in her skin despite the fact that she was wearing a pale yellow summer dress with thin straps, exposing her shoulders and arms bare. There were tingling sensation and when she stayed too long in direct sunlight, she felt pain but she can tolerate it. She paid a huge price for her to be able to do so.
As though by instinct, her right hand cradled her left and her fingers moved around her ring finger where an antique looking ring was.
It has an oval shape, like the face of a handheld mirror and a topaz stone cradled by a silver frame. She moved it around like how an old woman's fingers would when praying a rosary.
