"They are here!"
He grabbed Iris' hand and ran. The hallways of the apartment where they were, were narrow and dark. He had no problem with the dark because his eyesight had no problem with dark places. His worries were Iris's. Her human legs cannot keep up with his and their enemies who they had no time to know.
"Hey, sweetie, climb on my back, we have to go a bit faster."
He expected Iris to reject and give him a difficult time but she climbed into his back without a word and he didn't have to stop running. She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist.
"Sorry if I'm heavy," she murmured against his neck as she buried her face.
Despite the danger they were in, he could not help but chuckle. She was not in any way heavy. She felt like a feather and he didn't mean figuratively.
Still chuckling, he jumped on the railings of the fire exit on the South side of the building and jumped to the next building.
