The three detectives watched the recorded version using a vintage camera over and over again, with the original video side by side.
The two videos matched; it was the same video but the only difference was that, in one, Melissa and Pickford were completely erased without removing any seconds or minutes whilst in one they were there. It was as if someone had just lifted them off the video without tempering with time. The longer they stared at the video, the more confused they became. In the end, Erica just stopped trying.
She did not want to believe some sort of magic removed two human beings from a video. There had to be some high-tech editing in place. Believing that magic was at play meant believing that it was not Pickford that they had in the interrogation room.
