The mayor kept gasping for help as he fell to the ground. Muscles in the jaw tensed as an excoriating pain hit him hard, sending him into wailing like hot water had been dumped on him. He was confused; he could not understand why the council was uprooting him while Pickford was still alive. He had not done anything wrong. In fact, he was the one who had been cleaning up stupid Pickford's mistakes for years. There had to be a mistake. They were making a mistake.
He was very important and they needed him instead of Pickford. And what confused him the most was that he had no idea what evidence the FBI had on him. It could have been mere speculation or fishing, but the council still decided to get rid of him.
However, there was also the possibility that they knew what evidence the FBI had which made them want to clean everyone involved.
Another blow hit him hard, sending him screaming.
"He is in pain, help him!" Erica yelled.
