By the time spring warmed in March, and flowers bloomed, Zhu Chanyi also gave birth, to a daughter, delighting Prince Rong so much that he no longer bothered with Imperial Tutor Li's people and insisted on going to the palace to have His Majesty name the child. The Emperor then named her Shu, Yan Shu.
Joyous events abounded in the imperial family, and although warfare at the border dragged on for months without large-scale battles, small conflicts were incessant. The Emperor was running out of patience, creating a daily atmosphere in the court that was increasingly more solemn, despite the season of spring warmth and blossoming flowers.
