When I told Tatum that I was ready to go, I hadn’t expected everything to happen so quickly, but honestly… I wasn’t sure why I thought that way. However, as the pack took care of their own, I had made my way back to the pack house only to find myself beneath the hot water of my bathroom shower. The steam filled the room as the water cascaded down around me.
I had held myself together as well as I could out there in front of everyone, but the moment that I found myself alone, I crumbled. The tears, unable to stop flowing, tried to piece together everything that had ever happened to me. The pain of the memories that slowly flooded in, mixed with that of the ones I had after my memory had been taken.
None of this was supposed to happen this way. And knowing that so many people died just because I existed killed me.
All I wanted was to be normal. To live a normal life. To go back to my shop in Salem and act like all of this had just been a bad dream.
But I couldn’t.
