Somewhere, late into the night, Tatum finally decided to pull over so he could sleep. After our conversation, I had remained quiet until I drifted off like the passenger princess I was, only to be awoken by a gentle nudge by Tatum. The blinking light of a Motel 8 wasn’t exactly the high end hotel I was hoping for. Not that beggars could be choosers, but finally getting some good sleep didn’t sound bad either.
Leaning up against the hood of the car, I watched him make his way back towards me. The dim light of the hotel cast a shadow across his face as my eyes took in the single key in his hand.
Wait…only one key?!
“Where’s my room?” I asked casually, hoping he wasn’t going to suggest what I thought he was. His eyes lifted to meet mine with a smirk on his lips before he slapped the single key against the palm of his hand.
“Only one room left, unfortunately. But don’t worry, there are two beds.”
Fuck. That’s my damn luck.
