Unfortunate circumstances didn’t even touch our current situation as I gave my life over to a man I barely knew, hoping he would get me out of the woods alive. A normal person would have called me insane. Even perhaps questioned my will to live. However, I was living on the edge. Something I never did.
“What are we going to do?” I asked as he pulled me into the house, locking the door behind us as if that was going to keep them out.
“Just…give me a minute.”
I wasn’t new to running from danger, nor was I new to fighting off danger. But I felt as if neither would be beneficial at that moment. A loud boom echoed through the home, shaking the walls. My eyes widened in shock as I turned towards the window, watching as the ward shook around my home.
“They’re trying to break the ward,” I muttered, watching the ward shake again. Never had I seen a display like this before, and I suddenly wondered if Deidra’s magic would actually hold.
