The white dress hangs from the hanger on the cupboard door. Something that Erinna hasn't seen the likes of before today, let alone ever worn. The sheer elegance of the dress was truly something to behold.
The thought of having dinner with Lance MacArthur CEO of MacArthur LTD the biggest investment firm in Sacramento, sending shivers down my spine.
I never personally liked the man very much, but he was good at getting my name out there. He was very good for my modelling career. A cold heartless gentleman that has used and abused people his entire life. I just used him back to get what I needed. Proof. Proof to what he did to my father so I could make him pay for what he did.
You might think me cold and calculated but after everything that man has done to my family, this shit is warranted.
Thanks to Lance and his corporation, my family had lost everything. My father had spent his entire life building his company and when Lance wanted it, he hounded and made my fathers life hell. After a few years af fighting tooth and nail to protect my heritage. My father was found murdered and h
is company handed over to MacArthur LTD.
Mama couldn't handle it and ended up in a hospital under permanent care. She hasnt spoken or even responded to me in over four years.
My cellphone chimed with a message informing me that the limo will be here in thirty minutes. I shook the thoughts from my mind as I stared at my reflection in the mirror.
My olive skin radiant and glowing, my long black hair framing my face on the side. A loose plait hanging over my shoulder with small white flowers in my hair. My red lips adding a special flare of color to the all white dress that I am wearing tonight. My Italian heritage really shining through.
My nerves have definately gotten the better of me tonight. Taking the dress off the hanger and finally putting it on, makes tonights dinner very real.
The white high heels with the dress is actually breathtaking. The long slit running up the front that exposes my leg and thigh as I move is exquisite.
I swallow the big ball of nerves that has suddenly consumed me. My time has run out. I pick up my clutch, throw in my small purse, lipstick and cellphone then head towards my front door, stopping infront of a table housing my family photographs.
I pick up the frame housing a photograph of my mama and my papa. Tears form in my eyes as I sniff them back.
"Hopefully tonight mama" I say running my fingers over the glass. Swallowing my sorrow I place a sweet kiss on the frame and put it back in place. I pick up my house keys, lock up and put my keys in my clutch.
The limo is already at the curb waiting. I gather my courage exhaling a deep breath and head down the stairs towards the chauffeur who is holding the back door open for me.
"Miss Erinna" he says taking my hand and helping me into the back seat.
The ride to the restaurant took a little longer than I thought it would. Maybe it was just the uncomfortable silence that made it feel longer and unbearable.
The car finally comes to a stop. The amount of people standing around the entrance of the restaurant was scary. I take another deep breath as the door is opened and the chauffeur helps me out of the car.
"Mam" he says releasing my hand.
To feel like someone famous is incredible. People recognized me, my name was being shouted from all directions and cameras were flashing all over the show. I smiled and waved as I walked effortlessly towards the entrance, where I was greeted by the beautiful hostess.
Her sheek black dress and pinned up blond hair. Her gorgeous sea blue eyes that are so expressive. She carries herself with such grace and elegance.
I am led off towards our table where Lance is already seated his eyes glued to his cellphone. It was like he never even noticed me being seated. Pretty strange concidering that hardly any person thats male and female alike in this restaurant could keep their eyes off of me.
Lance put his phone down on the table finally looking over at me.
"Wow, you look....." his cellphone beeped again and his attention was yet again diverted to his phone. Its aggravating and infuriating that he can't even finish his greeting or a conversation without his cellphone. While he was busy ognoring me and busy on his phone I ordered two glasses of red wine.
A chuckle from him pulled me out from my deep thoughts. He put his phone down, picked up the glass of wine and gulped it all down in one sip.
For an attractive man with his dirty blond hair cut short and styled to perfection. His blue eyes that seemed to pull you in and that gorgeous dimple on his right cheek. His expensive suites tailored to fit him perfectly. A smile hardly ever crossed over those gorgeous lips of his. He was cold, abrupt and aloof. What woman in her right mind would want a man like this. He was business twenty four hours a day.
