Chapter 34 - Awe-inspiring speech

The lycan soldiers gathered around the castle grounds at sun rise in preparation for the up coming battle against dravadon and his fragments of darkness alongside Davion and his legions of dragons.

Elena and the witches were also present at the castle grounds, everyone present had their eyes fixated on the imposing powerful figure that stood tall before them as they listened attentively to his awe inspiring speech which thundered and echoed throughout the castle grounds.

"I'll first of all like to thank each and everyone one of you gathered here today for joining forces with me on this impending battle, for thousands of years we have been treated as inferiors the lycans, the witches and some of the lesser races including humans and have been oppressed and tormented by dravadon, for thousands of years dravadon has infected and poisoned the world with his scourge of darkness, for thousands of years we have lost people most precious to us, I myself am a testament to that, I lost my son two thousand years ago to dravadon and I have had to live with that pain guilt and torture for years but it changes today, cause today we make dravadon pay for the lives he has ruined and destroyed, today we send those dirty bastards into the underworld from where they once emerged, today we march to victory, today we march towards freedom, today we march towards the birth to a new dawn."

Lucian spoke out in a deep thunderous voice earning a loud outcry from the lycans the witches and the dragons as they were heavily inspired and pumped to go into battle.

"Yeah!!!" the men screamed in unison, lucian seeing how driven and motivated his men were made him smile inwardly, he could feel it deep inside him that victory was within their grasp.

"Now is the time to say your goodbyes to your loved ones and families, cause just like every other wars fought throughout history the loss of lives on the battle ground is imminent, but I say to you right here right now do not waver or falter for though we might loose a few comrades during this battle their lives and sacrifices would be immortalised through out history for eternity, their name shall be remembered for ever as heroes who died so we may live." he screamed rigourously his voice filled with burning passion.

"Yeah!!" they once again screamed in unison pumped by Lucian's words of inspiration, the men excluding the dragons immediately dispersed to say their final goodbyes to their families and loved ones.

Lucian stood majestically as he watched them disperse, he was then approached by a tall lean black haired man with deep blue eyes with a fairly young attractive appearance, his gamma ranked Chris.

"Alpha" gamma chris spoke respectfully to lucian with a slight bow

"what are the total count of the lycan soldiers?." Lucian asked the gamma while staring intently at him

"Umm not much Alpha." he said sheepishly scratching the back of his neck trying to avoid his Alpha's gaze

"stop wasting my time and just tell me." Lucian spat out impatiently

"Only two thousand men Alpha lucian," he answered hesitantly "The dragons are over three thousand and the witches one thousand, we still have about a thousand male lycans capable of fighting but they stubbornly refuse to fight saying it a pointless war that we would end up losing, what are your orders Alpha lucian do you command I forcefully make them comply?."

"No!" he roared making the gamma flinch from shock "you will do no such thing, if they wish to sit idle and watch their entire race slowly get extinct then they can have at it " he said through gritted teeth.

If only they knew of Dravadon's curse they probably wouldn't hesitate to join the fight he thought to himself, the lycans besides Roman were not aware of Dravadon's curse about their race one day going extinct.

They all assumed that perhaps lucian desperately wanted dravadon dead to avenge his son and free the lycans from oppression, lucian had countlessly refused Roman's proposal to inform the lycans of their impending doom stating it was pointless and would only create a tensed and gloomy atmosphere among the lycans.

"understood Alpha." Gamma chris bowed his head in respect

"you should go see your wife chris, we have a long journey ahead of us," lucian spoke after a long sigh and placed his hands on the gamma shoulder.

"tell the men to prepare for battle in an hour." he added as he walked away from his gamma towards Elena who he sighted having a serious conversation with one of her subjects and Theodore with grave expressions etched on their faces, whatever they were talking about it seemed it wasn't good.

"Is everything alright? " he asked Elena

"frankly I don't know," she said as she massaged her furrowed brows " my inside spy was killed yesterday by dravadon."

"WHAT?" Lucian yelled with a furrowed brows "does it mean dravadon already knows of our attack?."

"I'm not sure, thanks to the lightbringer was able to create a spell capable of preventing even dravadon from reading memories."

"impossible." lucian abruptly cut her off with his eyes widened in Shock it was a impossible feat to achieve lucian thought to himself

"No it's not, I was aided by a lightbringer, so it should be impossible for dravadon to pry on her memories.. but he could still get his information by torturing her."

"Her? so it's a woman?." Lucian asked Elena however seeing her stoic expression which meant she was not intending to answer his questions he relented in pursuing the question.

"how do you know she's dead?."

"I can't feel her energy, it's completely gone,i lost her touch of her energy yesterday but I didn't dwell much on it being busy and all, but now I'm certain something must had happen to her I do not know how dravadon found out about her involvement with me, but it's nothing to worry about I have another spy in dravadon's castle and he would have informed me if dravadon were to be planning an attack."

she added in a confident tone unknown to lucian that the person she referred to as her other spy was Alucard.

"good that's all I need to hear, I will not change my plans, we attack today." He spoke in an authoritative tone leaving zero room for arguments.
