Scarlett ran through the capital. If there was ever a time that she wished she could shift openly, it would be now. A smaller, faster form with better senses could make the difference between life and death.
But everyone was a potential enemy here—a potential threat. She didn’t need some soldier seeing her fur and lumping her in with the rest of the people who started this.
So, she was stuck in her human form, dodging people and fights and fire as she tried to make her way to Miss Tilly’s apartment. From there, she could work towards finding her friends—if they were still in the capital.
She might’ve jumped the gun rushing in, but there was no time to regret that now—not when another fire burst out right in front of her, and she had to throw herself forward before it cut off her path. She made it, but was smothering out embers on her shirt and probably smearing soot on her face as she wiped away her sweat.
