Rowan drummed his fingers against his steering wheel as he drove through the town, back towards the little cabin where he and his friends had partied in the days around the Moon Goddess Ball.
Scarlett hadn’t returned last night—not that he had truly expected her to; she even told him not to wait up for her. It had been late, and she’d been home, so he’d conceded and returned home himself.
That didn’t stop him from worrying, though.
They hadn’t really talked about anything that happened with Black Moon—not the kidnapping, and not what had happened while she was prisoner. And honestly, he was worried.
He had f*cked up, and he knew it.
He should’ve never left the capital with her alone, without back up or even a guard or two. He had figured that so few people knew about their relationship—but that was no excuse. He could’ve gotten Thomas or maybe even Kirk to come with them, watch their backs.
