Zac sat bored in the classroom. He could think about anything but class.
And even worse than class? Math.
Mrs. Borenski stood tall and, well… chubby; to say the least. Math was a subject that was universally hated by Zac.
He had stopped enjoying the subject when he had entered middle school. Though in elementary, it was his favorite subject.
It was like entering a dungeon expecting it to be easy just like the others but for it to jump to impossible mode.
Bored, Zac just stared at the clock, 30 minutes was what read on the clock. Sighing, he stared at the teacher hoping he would get a clue as to what she was teaching.
Nothing. Zac's face palmed while driving his hand down his face.
'Holy shit!'
Zac blinked his eyes fast enough to know what was in front of him was real. It was a 3D interface that had mysteriously popped up in front of him.
It read with wide words [HELLO ZAC] and with smaller words under it that read [Think about moving to the next page to continue.]
'What?'
How was he supposed to think about moving to the next page? What next page? Though reluctant, Zac followed the orders of the interface and surprisingly the previous interface was now replaced with a different one.
It now read…
[OPENING DATABASE…]
[DATEBASE UP-TO-BOOT]
[DATABASE OPENED!]
The moment the last words came up, Zac blanked out.
[Host, Zac Moore is present.]
[Starting Presentation…]
Zac woke up immediately.
'What happened?'
Zac looked around only to see himself in a long white rectangular room.
Before he could question his surroundings, a 3D interface popped up in front of his face.
It read...
[SYSTEM ON-GOOD-TERMS INFORMATION]
[Hello Zac, you must be wondering where you are. Well, this room is a product of your mind. You are not dead and you're physical body is perfectly fine. This mind space has a time ratio of 24:1, meaning 24 hours here equates to 1 hour in the real world; though I doubt you'll be staying here for more than 2 hours. As for what I am doing here? I'm here to make sure you're the apex. Not apex as in physical prowess but apex as in a good life. Please turn to the next page by thinking 'next page'. See you later.]
As he finished reading the words, the screen closed.
'So this is some type of system?'
Zac didn't know why but he was acting way too calm for someone who had recently had a life-changing event.
'I'm guessing 'stable mind' is an effect of being in this mind space.'
Ah, right. Zen then began thinking about going to the next page but before that, he felt the mind space shake.

[ZAC MOORE, IS BEING CALLED FOR]
[TEMPORARILY CLOSING 'DATABASE']
And just like that, Zac was kicked out of his mind space and was able to move his physical body.
"ZAC MOORE! PLEASE COME UP TO ANSWER THIS QUESTION!" Mrs. Borenski bellowed.
Zac immediately got up and went towards the whiteboard. Mrs. Borenski angrily handed him a dry erase marker.
As Zac began to write, he froze. He had no idea, how to solve this equation, and right now he was sweating buckets.
As if some God felt pity for him a 3D interface showed up. It was much wider than the previous ones and covered all of Zac's eyesight with blue.
Notifications popped up on top of a blue screen.
[Equation detected.]
[Solving Equation]
[Equation Solved]
'What?!'
Not taking any chances Zac wrote the answer on the board hoping this 3D interface hadn't just wronged him.
The answer to the equation was 739 and Zac wrote it in bold and underlined it. Mrs. Borenski was surprised, Zac had finally managed to solve something... but he could be cheating.
"Zac, empty your pockets."
Obediently Zach listened and pulled his pant pockets out. There was nothing inside.
Not yet believing him, she said "Show us the process you took to solve the equation."
Zach nodded and once again faced the bored. He was fucked, unless the 3D interface could also show the process of the equation.
The 3D interface following his train of thought opened up a dropdown that displayed the steps to the equation.
'Thank God.'
Zac then began writing the questions while both Mrs. Borenski and the students were shocked.
Zac was actually solving an equation? Zac; the one who couldn't even solve the easier questions was suddenly solving this?
It had to be luck. Right?
Zach right now was calm and composed. He had actually solved a math equation? How long had it been? 6 years?
The only way Zac was able to make it this far was because he was actually good when it came to anything but math.
"Mmm, you got it correct Zac, you can go back and sit down." To be honest, Mrs. Borenski wasn't a bad teacher. She wanted her students to do well and seeing Zac just fail at math without even trying, got her angry.
Zac went back to his seat and sighed.
"Okay students, anybody know how --- ------ --- -------- ?"
Zac zoned out again, leaving him to himself. This system was definitely a life-changer. Though he didn't know the full capabilities of it, it being able to come in at clutch was helpful.
Unknowingly Zac himself had made a resolution. He had believed the people who believed they could make a resolution and stick to it were stupid.
He himself had tried to make many resolutions before and he had failed in every single one of them.
"Class dismissed!"
Zac got up to leave behind all the other people in his class but he heard his name being called.
"You did well Zac." it was Mrs. Borenski.
"Thank you, ma'am." Zach smiled and then left for home.
...
As soon as he got home, he undressed and pulled up his backpack against his bed.
As he laid down on his own bed, a 3D interface appeared in front of him.
