Chapter 3 - The Better Fighter

Rhino was smiling, his teeth obscenely white against his darker skin. At least the teeth that he had for the most part. It seemed pretty clear that Lucian wasn't intimidated by the larger man moving around him. He didn't move either even when Rhino moved to his left, he just turned his head watching him. It was kind of odd, and creepy the way that he stood almost relaxed but his head turned to the side. It reminded her of the jungle cats that sat perched. Just moving their head or eyes to watch lying in wait.

"What's he doing? Not even going to try to fight him?"

"He just has to last two minutes right?" Jackie said with a laugh at Rick's comment.

"I guess." He responded with a shrug. Rhino came forward and swung. It was kind of stunning with the way that Lucian bent back. Rhino had acted like he was going to swing from behind but then swung to hit Lucian in the face. Lucian seemed to already know what he was really going to do and bent back, farther than most would be capable of. Clearly he had trained his body in multiple ways.

As he went back, and Rhino's arm swung over empty air, he reached up grabbing Rhino by the forearm. With his right hand and brought his left one up from behind the arm. The intent was very clear with the position of his right hand pushing the lower part of Rhino's arm back, and his own hand coming up by the elbow to slam into it and break the arm.

It had to be the simple fact that Rhino was so bulky that kept his arm from actually snapping like a twig, but he made a sound of pain. Lucian had to of used an incredible amount of force in the first place. Lucian twisted coming up and just walked to the left out of reach. Walked like it was an ordinary day and nothing was really going on.

Rhino shook out his arm flexing his fingers, but it looked like he was feeling a bit of pain. Rhino just gave a smile, though you could see that he was pissed about what had just happened. At least Dawn thought so, and Lucian kind of unnerved her. Who could go in there and stand like it didn't matter? What was wrong with the man?

Rhino charged him, and Lucian reached down and grabbed the metal pipe that was there. He swung hard clipping him across the head. It was meant to hit him, but Rhino saw it just in time to only get clipped and there was a bit of a gash where the edge of the pipe hit. Rhino was saying something that no one could hear over the roar of the crowd, Lucian didn't react.

It seemed that Rhino wasn't having all that much fun with Lucian and his quick feet and refusal to react to anything that was said to him. They went at it for a couple of minutes and then Rhino grabbed the knife that had been left behind. Lucian had to keep moving or he was going to get slashed. The crowd was really enjoying this one. It seemed that no one had lasted longer than two and a half minutes. They were getting up on four.

No matter what he tried, Rhino couldn't manage a hold on Lucian, who had gotten in a few good hits. Though Rhino decided to just take a dive at Lucian. Which worked out in his favor, and most thought it was over once Rhino got a hold on Lucian's leg and down they both went.

Instead Lucian seemed to lose a bit of calm when he went down and landed on his back. He kicked out getting Rhino in the head, but Rhino slammed a fist down on the side of Lucian's leg missing the knee cap like he planned.

Lucian twisted kicking out hard and swung with the pipe as hard as he could getting Rhino across the head, and that made him stagger back. The hit had been intense, hard enough that you could hear it. Dawn didn't know how Rhino was still standing. Lucian had a curl to his lip and pulled something from his side. The glint of bloody metal went flying across the fighting area.

Seeming to have decided he was no longer wanting to continue the game around the ring, Lucian came at Rhino who swung at him again but his aim was off with the blow to the head. Lucian punched him fiercely, mostly in the head which seemed to be the best place to get the man. Rhino managed a couple hits of his own, and one that might have cracked a couple of Lucian's ribs.

Lucian kicked out, getting Rhino in the stomach making him double over, and he then swung the pipe having picked it back up and down Rhino went. He struggled to get back up, but Lucian leapt on him. Literally leapt and grabbed him by the throat before he started hitting him repeatedly in the face. Dawn put a hand to her mouth. It was kind of vicious, and three men had to pull Lucian off who jerked hard and sent one man to the ground. It looked like he took a breath and then turned walking out of the fighting area before the main man could even start talking.

"Looks like we have a winner!" There was a huge up roar, it was hard to tell if it was a plus or minus with how loud it was in the place. But those that had bet on Lucian were few it seemed, yet completely ecstatic with the amount that they just won. His odds to win had been six to one. They would have been a lot higher, apparently twelve to one, but because this Debutant sponsored him it lowered the odds by half.

"Holy shit that was awesome!" Craig said shaking her shoulder a bit. "That made us over a thousand bucks!" Well divided out they each got three hundred and she got one twenty, but still a damn good amount for twenty bucks put in. So far they were all ahead nearly a thousand each except her who bet small but that was okay.

"Hey I want a smoke before we watch the next couple of fights." Rick said and Craig gave a nod saying that he wanted to as well, so the four of them went outside. That was something that Dawn didn't like, smoking, but he said that he didn't do it a lot. Just socially.

Which seemed to be the case as they went outside and he asked for a cig. She figured if you were a normal smoker you'd have a pack on you at all times. Jackie just shared Rick's, she felt kind of awkward at how the two of them were so close all of a sudden and their suggestive remarks. She only felt awkward because she didn't want Craig to think he was getting something when they left. She wasn't in the mood, and didn't feel that urge for him, nor needed it at the moment.

She spotted a few outside bathrooms and felt a relief go through her at seeing them. Though they were like wooden shacks, but this wasn't a five star hotel. She had to go for a while and her eye search around the inside had showed nothing. She pointed over at them and told them that she was going to go.

"Hey, don't run off. You're our money maker tonight. Wished I'd have put more on that Luke." Rick said.

"I think it was Lucian." Jackie told him taking the cig.

"Whatever, money is money. I feel bad for that Rhino's face." Dawn just listened to their comments as she walked away.

"What face? He probably looks better now." The three of them laughed at Craig's comment and she just rolled her eyes. She walked past the smaller entry way door, and she could see a fight about to take place from here. The hall was short and gave you a direct view to the fighting area. The man that was holding the door just looked at her. She smiled and went into the bathroom holding onto her purse, he just turned flicking the cigarette that he had and went in.

The thing smelled, but not as bad as she thought that it would. However that didn't mean that she wanted to touch anything in here. Just looking at the people that came to this thing, she wasn't sure that half believed in hygiene. It was like a hole in the ground with a rickety place to sit. She was also wondering how long she could hide in here before they came looking for her. She got up fixing her clothes when she heard voices coming out the back of the door.

"That was too easy, like taking candy from a baby." The voice was male and had a deeper tone to it. Also an authoritative tone as well. It sounded like there were a couple people just outside the bathroom she was in. She moved trying to see through the slats at the voice that spoke, these people simply amazed her, how kind they were. She meant that sarcastically, and now she wanted to see what they spoke of in private. Plus that meant she had a little more time away from the the others.
