Chereads / Desperate Fighters / Chapter 5 - Chased

Chapter 5 - Chased

"Making friends with the fighters now are we?" Jackie asked with a smile from the front seat as they were driving home. Dawn was more than happy to be going home. She was tired and done with this little adventure.

"Something like that." She said, and really wished that Craig would move away from her. He had slid across the seat to sit next to her with an arm around her. He was lightly rubbing her arm, but she wanted him to stop. She did move a bit but he didn't seem to get the hint at all.

"How do you guys feel about just stopping up at the hotel that we passed on the way here? It's like a two hour drive home and I'm not sure I can make the two hour drive home." That was not on her agenda. Dawn was not spending the night with these three, and with Craig's closeness and sudden touchy feely, he would definitely not keep his hands to himself.

"If you want I can drive. Saves us money we just won too." There was a bit of a laugh at her last comment, and that was why she said it. She didn't want to sound like she was being a bitch or something. She just didn't want to sound like that even though she wasn't in the mood for this.

"You know I wouldn't mind switching spots for a bit." Rick said smiling at Jackie who gave him a suggestive look. Okay, if they were switching, then she was going to blast the tunes. She didn't need to listen to her sucking him off or something.

Rick slowed down and Dawn was surprised that he was actually going to switch. She didn't care, she'd drive and pay the speeding ticket if she had to. They were still out in the middle of nowhere and the last car they saw was twenty minutes ago, plus the last house was a few miles back.

"Feeling good to drive?" Craig asked her as he pulled over on the road and she smiled at him. Nice of him to ask, but she really didn't want to be a passenger right now.

'Yeah, I'm wide awake." She told him opening the door. The others did as well.

Though Rick did run around the car and catch Jackie around the waist. She gave a slight shout and then laughed. They got in the back as Rick opened the door. Dawn didn't really look at Craig as she went around the front to drive. She did glance back down the road and saw a pair of headlights. She got in because sitting in the middle of the road with a car flying up on them didn't sound like fun.

They got in and she picked up speed quick, she let Craig pick the music to listen too. She didn't care, as long as it drowned out the two in the back. She really hoped that Craig wasn't thinking along those lines, even if they were really just having a rather hot and heavy make out session in the back.

"I'm glad you came along you know. Didn't think you would." Craig finally said to her, she glanced at him.

"It was different than I thought." She gave a smile to him, and he stared at her looking her over. There was interest there, but not from her. She glanced up in the rearview mirror, the headlights from before were a lot closer now. They had to be flying and she wasn't going slow either. But like there was going to be a cop sitting out here at this hour.

He reached over to push some of her hair back from the side of her face and she flinched slightly, and he made a slight sound.

"What's wrong? You seem suddenly standoffish." She glanced at him.

"Sorry, it's just the way I am."

"Just relax, isn't like we aren't friends here." Well they were friends, she was just here as a first timer. Their idea of fun wasn't the same as hers, and she hated to tell him but after tonight she wasn't really looking to continue anything with him. He however seemed to have a different idea.

Dawn glanced in her mirror, but couldn't really see anything because Jackie was pretty much straddling Rick in her view. She had her back to the front so Dawn figured it better to not look in the rear view mirror then.

"I'm just not feeling comfortable at the moment." He looked a little annoyed.

"Dawn," He started but Jackie stiffened suddenly.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" She got louder with each one and it was a panicked kind of shout. She moved from Rick to sit next to him.

"What?" Rick asked a bit of worry in his tone and turned to look behind them just as the rest did. With Dawn looking in her rearview mirror. But it was a bit to late to do much. The car that was behind them moved as if to pass and they were going fast.

The car was more like a large truck and as it moved to pass it was way to close. Dawn stepped on the gas hoping to miss them clipping the back. She knew if she hit the brakes they would collide for sure. Whoever it was wasn't driving safe and probably were intoxicated.

However when the truck missed clipping them because of her speeding up, it slowed instead and then was behind them. It picked up speed once more, and all of them were concerned because that wasn't normal behavior.

"Let them go around." Rick said.

"What if they aren't trying to pass us?" Jackie asked.

"What could they want, we're the only other car. They're probably drunk and realized they were miss judging the pass." Craig said. They were flying down the road and their car wasn't going to go much faster and the truck was keeping up with them, and starting to accelerate. Dawn was worried that if this truck tired something their car was going to flip and kill them.

The truck was dark colored and large, it came up and definitely bumped them this time. It was well placed and Dawn knew it had to be planned that way because it sent them into a spin rather than forcing them off the road. They were shouting and screaming, holding on for dear life as the car skidded down the road doing a spin.

"What the fuck!" Craig shouted as their car came to a stop, not one but two trucks passed them by and dirt flew up as they both had to go off road to stop from hitting the car.

"Dawn, get us out of here." Jackie said seeing one of the trucks stop. The first was turning around up the road behind them.

"Maybe they are stopping to see if we are okay."

"The hell they are. Who hits someone like that?" Dawn said not trusting this and knowing what Rick said was wrong. She hit the gas and took off down the road the way that they had been going. Whoever got out of the second truck quickly turned and ran back to their vehicle as the first truck shot past them intent on running their car down.

"Where are we going to go? Their vehicles are faster than ours?" This was crazy, who were these people?

"This is just a straight road, we have to try and find some place to go. There was that house a few miles back." Craig stated.

"Yeah, we could go there. What if these are crazies and they own that place or something." Jackie said and Dawn thought she'd seen one to many movies. The first truck was catching up with them again.

"Someone get a phone out and call the police." Dawn snapped and they were all rummaging for a phone.

"There's no signal."

"Bullshit, I know we are like in the middle of nowhere but seriously?" Rick said to Jackie, but his phone too had no signal the same with the rest. The first truck moved around shooting past them, and Dawn glanced back. The truck behind them was catching up and the one before them moved as if to block them. Dawn was thinking quick, she wasn't sure the action she should take. Still she prided herself on staying calm and knew that she needed to take one. That is truck had ill intent and her next few choices were going to seriously effect their lives.

Right now she didn't know what kind of surface was off road, if it was level or bumpy, soft or packed down. She didn't want to get the car stuck and then they were in trouble. She however knew exactly what the two vehicles were trying to do. That was box them in and force them to slow down. Everything inside of her told her that if those truck got them to slow it was game over.
