"Guys this is Nico. He will be staying here with us from now on. Be kind."
Nico glanced up at him.
"I'm Matt, and you must already know Raven," The taller guy pointed to the guy who brought him here.
Matt had a buzz cut and looked muscular. He was tall as heck. His hands were slightly stained red. This guy must have hunted just recently.
Just as had expected, he saw a huge elk hanging upside down tied to the wooden beam of the roof. Its blood was dripping down little by little onto a small pail.
"Nico, those are our twins, Hunter and Issac. We got them from the nearby village being sold off to a rich human. Darius and Nolan next to them were found when they were running away from the hunting wolves. and last but not least our witch Avery, he found us. He is the one who discovered this safe spot,"
Nicolai had a hard time memorizing so many names. He peered at the table. The twins both had curly black hair and black eyes. Their features looked more Armenians. 'They must be hunter and Isaac.'
The next guy had blond hair. He looked like a teenager. 'That must be Darius'
Nolan was a normal-looking guy with brown hair. He had very plain facial features.
Avery, the witch on the other hand, looked very feminine and short. He looked cute.
As he was looking at him, the shorter man was gazing at him as well.
Avery shot up suddenly, pushing the chair accidentally. "you.. you found us another witch! Amazing!" he ran to him and held his hand.
Nico was silently alarmed by his sudden approach. He backed away, hitting the chest of the guy behind. "I'm not a witch,"
"I feel it. It's strong. You're strong! Guys, we have a chance to kill the alpha king!!"
"Alpha king?" It gained his attention. "You're planning to kill him?"
"Yeah we are,"
Nico barely contained his rage. "Count me in."
Everyone looked at him in surprise.
That guy Darius walked closer. "Aren't you going to ask how and why we are doing this?"
"I dint care. I just want him gone. He is the reason why I lost everything. I want him to rot in hell." Nicolai panted loudly.
Avery, who was holding his hand, gently patted his back. "Calm down lad. Your powers are going crazy," he pulled him over to a chair and made him sit there.
On the table, there was delightful-smelling pot of blood jelly. The other three youngsters were eating it ferociously.
There were a total of seven vampires in this small, dingy house. they seem barely groomed and to be honest; they looked underfed as well.
"Here," Darius the blond-haired vampire handed him a wooden spoonful of the jelly.
"No, I'm not hungry,"
The small bowl of blood was not enough for even two vampires. Here, seven vampires were eating it for breakfast.
It was a sickening sight of how his kind had been degraded.
"When do you guys plan to attack him? We have to do it as soon as we can. The sooner he is gone, the better it is for us,"
Raven chuckled. "Again, calm down lad. We have time. Our recent attack failed. We need time and equipment to take care of the wolves. Just going barehanded is not going to help us win the war," he opened his mouth wide and chomped on the wooden spoon.
Nico slightly frowned. The man's fangs were small. They looked just like human canine teeth. With this, they won't be able to take a bite out of their preys.
"What are you looking at? I'm pretty sure you are hungry. Come on eat. We got an elk last night. It can feed us for a few days."
Nico only took one spoonful. "So can you eat meat?"
Everyone froze, looking at him.
"Raven, are you sure he is all there?" Matt silently whispered.
Nico bit his lips anxiously. He felt like he asked the wrong question.
The young vampires here were said to be born from human parents. Of course, they must have human traits too just like he did. They must be able to tolerate human food.
Avery grabbed his hand again. "Nico, we can't eat meat. We are just like pure blood wolves in a human body,"
"Huh.. so you don't have any vampire powers?"
They shook their head.
Matt peered at him with interest. "Raven here says you are a halfie. Is that true? If so, it could be of great help to us."
"Wait you are half vampire and half with just like me! so cool~~ Avery giggled and hugged his arm.
Nico gently removed his hand from his hold. "I'm half human."
"Human? That's not right. I feel your witch energy," he confidently looked at him.
"I can assure you. I'm half-human."
This silenced the intrusive guy.
The rest ofo the meal was in silence. Only the sound of the wooden spoons hitting the bottom of the empty pan was heard. There was not much food.
It was eaten in just five minutes.
The younger twins were still sucking and licking the wooden spoon with a frown.
'This Raven guy said they can eat for three days. Why are they still starved?'
Young vampire years is the time their body needed a lot more nutrition to develop. Only a well-fed and well-bred vampire can have the powers of trace and blood lust.
He had seen some malnourished vampires lose their ability after not eating for a long time.
Sighing, he sat up. "We are a team now. We have to work together. To be honest, we need more food." He looked at the elk body that was hanging upside down. "we can use that,"
Raven just raised his brow. "we can't eat meat. Might I remind you again."
"If we are not going to eat it we are always to trade it. Where is the closest human town? I can cure the meat and I can sell it, for a few coppers."
Raven scoffed. "You really are crazy. His brain really is muddled."
"Why is it bad? We can get blood if we trade it with meat. Humans need that meat for winter,"
"That's not how it works, Nico! the moment we walk into that market, the wolves will come sniffing behind our ass. It's just one minute and we are vampire chops." Raven mumbled, placing the wooden spoon down. "Seriously, you said you were raised sheltered. I guess your pops never taught you anything."
Nicolai bit his lips softly. "They never tracked me,"
"huh?"
"They never got a scent of me. I walked through a darn human market, walked through a dock filled with wolves. I survived in a human town for two weeks. I can go untraced."
Everyone was kind of shocked.
"are you telling the truth?"
"yes, I am. If I stray from blood, I can actually mask my scent and make it similar to humans. We can trade the meat, we can eat well," Nicolai was more than excited.
It was not too late. he could save the vampire kind.
Raven stood up with a dull look on his face/ "you're forgetting one thing. Humans will get suspicious when you buy gallons of blood. It's a stupid idea,"
He walked to the door without waiting for his reply.
The others also seemed hesitant.
"How about I prove it to you? What will you do if I prove it to you that I can do this. it's a gamble. I'm gambling with my life."
"Exactly! You are gambling your life and I don't like it! Nico we are not going near humans! They are our enemies!" he dragged the elk and tossed it into a huge pit. He started to bury it.
Nicolai was shocked. 'I..but my plan can work...'
His eyes focused on the young wolves, which were bone thin.
'It's just my life. I have nothing to lose. I'll bring more food,' he mentally prepared himself to fight this issue.
