Hundred more years later:
Dylan sat on the porch overlooking the new wolves that were training. The young werewolves were all stiff. Some even silently sobbed.
"Am I not supposed to be here?" he mumbled, cracking a peanut open.
Hundred years had passed, and he still did not age. But everyone around him did. with the support of the southern werewolf clans, he started to take control. First, he had to stop the savage action of the northern clan. They rarely listened to his orders and would inflict cruel wounds on humans.
He had to kill all the Alpha to stop this massacre. The Alpha heirs were all chosen by him. Trained by him and they were taught all the values his sister taught him. Only if they were deemed worthy, would he give the Alpha position for that particular territory.
The young kids training in front of him were all Alpha heirs. They were sent here by their families to be trained properly in all skills.
They were young and to be honest little clumsy. But in time these young wolves can become a force to be reckoned.
"You, you should not hurt your opponent after he has tapped out. Where is your honor," he chewed on the peanut loudly.
The young wolf whimpered and went to his knees.
"I didn't ask you to bow… sigh…" he looked up at his old beta. "Why does it seem like they loathe me so much?"
"Try using a kinder tone Alpha king. They will understand that this is all for their own good," his old beta Raikin whispered. He was sixty years and wished to retire from his position, so he was training his own son to take over.
Dylan looked at the young man dressed in a three-piece suit. He looked like a formal butler…the young man's name was Killian. He had dark brown hair and a cheerful smile.
Dylan peered at him. 'Seems promising,'
"Alpha king, your presence alone can scare the young wolves," Killian, his new beta, whispered.
"Am I that scary?" he glanced up at him. "Really. I'm just eating my peanut here…"
His beta was a young man in his twenties, and he was relatively new to things.
The young man silently gulped.
Sighing, Dylan stood up and walked to the door. "Don't wish to be shitting on anyone's party."
"Alpha king, I didn't mean it in an offensive way," the man hurriedly shouted.
He smiled back at him. "I know. And it's okay. Let them continue with their training. I need you to give me a detailed report of everything that has been going on,"
"Yes Alpha," the man ran in hurriedly. "The treaty has been a success. The humans and the werewolves have finally calmed down. The nuclear war has been stopped indefinitely…."
Right by the staircase, Dylan froze. "What about… the vampires?"
"They are no more, sir. We have done it. We have finally defeated them. After hundred years of oppression from those disgusting bloodsuckers, we have finally managed to…."
Dylan's glare made him freeze in shock. An overwhelming power surrounded him.
"What did you say about the vampires?"
"…." He could not speak. He could not open his mouth, but words failed to come out. in fear, he glanced up at him.
"Alpha…sir, he is new. Please forgive him," his father came to his rescue.
Dylan finally calmed down. "Raikin, teach your son well. The next time I hear him talk about vampires that way..." he left with an open threat.
Killian finally was about to breathe. Panting, he peered at the ground.
"son." Raikin gently lifted him up.
"Dad.. what was that…. I."
His father smacked the back of his head. "How many times did I warn you, boy? You have to be careful when you speak to our king."
"I was only giving a report! Besides, vampires are our enemies! Why does he…"
Raikin cupped his mouth. "Enough, it's time, you know. Only our family is privy to this information, so don't go spreading it around,"'
Killing pushed his hand away with a pout. "You didn't even tell me what it was?"
"Our Alpha king once had a mate… he was a vampire. He lost his mate the day he was born.. the day the war began. So don't ever talk shit about vampires."
"Got it…"
His father proudly patted his back. "Go on then. Write your reports."
"Yes father," Killian walked over to the study, which was once his father's but now his. He took all the reports he had got in the last two days and went through them.
"hmm.. thank god the humans have finally relented," he mumbled, reading about the amendments in the peace treaty.
The war that began sixty years ago had finally ended this year with a peace treaty. Thanks to the Alpha king's powers of persuasion, they were able to convince the humans not to nuke them again.
Killian glanced out the window. The sun was shining brightly, and the woods were lush with green trees.
Just sixty years ago, his father had mentioned this place was a frozen wonderland.
But climate changed drastically after the nuclear war. Ice caps melted a few cities went underwater…
Thankfully, their small town was spared.
It was now a beautiful, lush village with the arctic wolf population peacefully living here.
Many other werewolf clans wanted to be part of this town, but Alpha king rejected them coldly.
Instead, he created a committee of alphas. They all met up every year to discuss how to retain peace and how to sustain the environment.
A lot of things had changed in those years. They had a miracle invention that could break down plastic waste. The oceans were cleaned and even the land was cleared out using this method.
The toxic waste from the warfare and the nuclear remains were also cleared out. there was a technology for that as well. it can absorb all the nearby radiation and left the place clean and safe to be inhabitable.
After he finished summarizing his report, Killian silently snuck to the wall of reports. His father's old reports were cleanly dated.
He picked one at random and read through them.
"Don't!. Don't read that," his dad burst through the door. "I just wanted to warn you not to read that….and I have another duty to hand over to you."
"What is it?"
His father handed over a voice recorder. It was the oldest model, which looked very worn out. "Make sure to make twenty no hundred copies of this."
Killing curious pressed the play button.
{'Rue! Oh my god… you spilled ketchup on my shoes! It's white darn it.'}
"It sounds like a teenager."
His father switched off the tape. "It was our late Luna's voice. Please make as many copies as you can. If one copy is corrupted, please replace the device in Alpha's room. He listens to this every night."
Killian carefully held the tape recorder. "Our king must have suffered a lot…"
"He IS suffering a lot. so please make sure to take care of him. Son, he may look strong and invulnerable. But that man is broken on the inside. Please be there for him. Got it?"
Killian nodded.
