Chapter 9 - Chapter 9:

"Aly !! Aly !! Wake up."

"Hmmnmn..." I sighed loudly, before turning to my side , to continue sleeping.

"Aly get off that bed right this minute !!,

Ethos and Martha are waiting for you outside." Mum shouted, this time from the door way of my bedroom.

"Oooh goddess maaa, Whattt !!..."

"Did you say Ethos and Martha are waiting for me outside?!!" I asked shooting straight up into a seating position in bed.

"Sh*t sh*t sh*t did I do something wrong? I asked her worried.

"Nooo relax, they said it's just work."

She clarified as I jumped out of bed and rushed into of the bathroom.

I took the fastest ever shower in my entire life, my hair was so wet, it was dripping all over the floor, but I didn't mind, I needed to be out there, like yesterday.

Ethos had told me we were starting work early today, but I had thought it would be around six am.

But instead it is almost five am, which means they were at my doorstep around four thirty.

I had been working with Ethos's group for over a week now.

But today I heard the pack is expecting some visitors, four alphas and their betas.

They are a part of the planning group, expected to help our pack host the quadrennial council meeting, set to hold in a few weeks.

Today we would be preparing the huge guest section of the pack house for the expected guests and for final inspection ahead of the council meeting.

"Finally, the queen arrives." Martha said sarcastically as I shut the front door behind me.

She is Ethos's cousin, but I don't think she likes me much.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." I said in a contrite tone.

" I am ready, let's go."

The guest area of the pack house is really huge, almost like a hotel.

It has about fifty suite like rooms.

Not that I have ever been there, until today.

I have heard the other servants talk about the opulence of the place, and from what I see now, they didn't do it much justice.

The work of cleaning and furnishing it was back breaking, but we'd focused on it since before dawn, and now it was lunch time.

I followed the group as they made their way to a table set outside, just behind the pack house for lunch.

I was walking right in front of Ethos when a pack elder stopped us.

"Child of the Milans, I know you were expressly ordered not to step foot in the pack house ever again."

He began in an accusatory tone, looking at me like I was some disgusting leech.

"No sir, I was ordered not to work in the pack house again." I corrected stupidly.

" What's the difference, fool?" He asked in anger, as I blushed deeply at my foolishness.

"My apologies elder Frank, it is my fault, we didn't know.

But we needed all hands on deck to meet up with the time frame to get the guest area ready for the inspection." Ethos intervened, explaining and trying to diffuse the tension.

Why do you have two different eye colors, child of the Milan's? Elder Frank asked, while glaring at me.

" I- I don't know sir." I answered, intense fear instantly creeping up my spine.

Reign hissed at the mans tone, but stayed in the back of my mind.

"You don't know?" He asked in a scandalized tone, as he raised his voice at me.

He tsked thrice , before grumbling

"This isn't good, not at all." His eyes misted a little to show that was he was mind linking someone.

When he was done, he pinned me with a hateful glare as he dismissed the others.

"You all are excused, except that young pup." He said pointing at me, brows furrowing in disapproval.

Goddess how much trouble can little old

me get into, in my lifetime?

Why do I always have to be the one getting into trouble, why do I always get picked out or picked on?

Why the heck did I, the trouble magnet of all people get caught working in the pack, especially after I was told not to.

Why did I forget ?? I questioned myself.

" you're a pack member you should be allowed in and out of the pack house at will." Reign stated, but I ignored her.

I looked around coyly trying to find the closest exit or escape route.

But elder Frank, just scoffed and warned

"You must be very stupid if you think you can run away. Firstly you wont get past the guards, since I have already alerted them.

Secondly, I am right In front of you, how far can you get, omega?"

A minute later, two guards came and grabbed me by my left and right arm. "Follow me.." the elder said and began to walk away.

The guards dragged me along as they walked briskly behind the hideous man.

"Please elder Frank, I haven't committed a serious offense, let me go sir.

Please I beg you sir."

No answer.

No one acknowledged that I had even spoken.

I sighed as I let them drag me with them, what else could I possibly do?

We walked, taking about two turns before stopping right in front of a wide double door. Elder frank walked straight through as the warriors guarding the door , held it open for him to walk through.

When the door closed shut behind him I saw a gold sign on it that said

"Elders council chambers."

I am pretty sure, this means, I am deep sh*t.

This can't be good, because from what I have managed to gather, people who walk through that door or are summoned by the elders council, almost always end up with tragic judgments.

I began to panic all the more time went by, while we waited. By the time the doors opened for us again I was so close to tears, you could practically see them shining in my eyes.

my heart beat had tripled in fear.

The guards dragged me to what looked like a docket. The seven elders of the elders council were seated in front of me, in a well spaced cinema styled hall.

I can't tell what the room looked like, because the next thing I knew, I was injected with wolfsbane.

To make me weak and more pliant to answer questions from the council.

The wolfsbane made Reign go crazy in my head howling in pain. My senses became poor and muddled.

But, I knew this was standard procedure.

In situations like this, wolfsbane is used to weaken the accused.

Making them docile and just conscious enough to do what was required of them by the council.

Elder Frank got up from his chair and walked to the front of the room and began to address the elders.

"Fellow elders." The wicked man, who had dragged me all the way here and into this mess, began to address the council.

" I have brought an important matter before you.

A matter in which, we would need to make a decision quickly as an expedited judgement is the only thing that will save us from the wrath of the moon alpha, before he arrives here."

"What was he talking about, the moon alpha? coming here to our pack? for what? I thought to myself.

"Before now, I have heard rumors and some pack members have approached me on several occasions, complaining about the Milan child with the witch eyes."

"An omega with a weak wolf, who miraculously survived the alphas rejection, woke up from a coma caused by the rejection with two different eye colors.

Now as elders we know what that means."

"I am sure, people have also approached you with such complaints. Well today I saw it for myself, and have dragged the offending pack member here before the council."

"Now we decided to host the alphas council because our new Luna is a former pack member of the moon alpha.

But all her teaching on etiquette and how to behave around the moon claw pack and the moon alpha won't save us if he finds us harboring a pack member that has been touched by dark magic."

"We know how ruthless the moon alpha is and how he can single handedly wipe us all out of existence, if we find ourselves on his bad side.

I am telling you all right now, colleagues of mine ,this girl with her different colored witch eyes , will put us in trouble."

"She has a lot to answer for, as this is nothing more than dark magic. How else can an omega survive an Alphas rejection, talk more of the omega doing the rejection herself."

"As far as I am concerned this pack member has committed the ultimate crime, of plotting against our race with perpetrators of dark magic."

He finished passionately before taking his seat.
