"What's up? Sie? How about you ask me what is in?"
Asher Fay waited for an answer and when he didn't get an answer he called, "Cassie are you still there?"
"What's up? how about you ask me what is in, come on," Cassie said to Asher.
Asher found himself laughing at that it was hell funny, it has been a long since Asher had spoken to Cassie and he really missed her, so if it means talking to her in his head even though he thought he was going crazy, then let it be it.
At least that way Asher had seemed to forget everything that was going on in the Dark River pack, and it felt great, even if it was for a minute.
"She is the best, once she comes back I will definitely try to talk to her, it is high time I stop being the boy in the corner." Asher thought to himself. He didn't know that Cassie still heard his voice and his thoughts. But Cassie didn't comment anything, he let the boy have it.
What Asher was sure about was if he really wanted to be Cassie's friend then that would be easy because Cassie was always there for everyone in the pack, she was everyone's person, she was a loving, caring, jovial, good listener, and really understanding.
Even if the pack was cursed, even if they were supposed to wait to see if they will be doomed, and their fate was under a female future alpha, they were certain that Cassie was going to make the best alpha.
"Cassie sorry I lost there for a minute," Asher said and Cassie answered immediately, "yeah, I have all the time in the world man."
Asher shook his head and asked again, "what do you mean by what is in, are you still there?"
"Yes I'm still here Asher, but let me tell you this place is not so good like whenever people say or do you have your wolf is the best and to change and to transform and all that story, trust me Asher they've been lying. I'm not sure but this is not good I don't know if it's because I'm 16 and just turn before I could even know what turning is but wait a minute, where is your wolf? did I ask you that already?"
Asher kept quiet, listening to Cassie's rambling was quite refreshing and interesting, he was nodding all along as if Cassie was next to him, he nodded his head to imply that Cassie had already asked him that question if he had gotten his wolf.
He scolded himself as he remembered that Cassie was not next to him, he started talking but Cassie cut him off by saying, "oh damn it. I have hit something."
Asher kept quiet as he was sure Cassie was going to continue with whatever she was saying, he looked at his fingers and stopped himself from playing with them, he was not nervous at the moment.
And Asher was right, Cassie continued, "oh, you don't wish to be where I am right now Ash, I'm inside here and I don't even know what is going outside, damn it wolf. Oops, sorry about cussing by the way, what is going on in Dark River Pack Ash?"
"Well, you see it is not like we are complaining but you kinda…"
Asher felt something, he looked around, it was a block. He felt as if something had been pulled away from him. He walked to where the clothes were, it was stupid of him to think that it was his wolf who was coming.
He sat next to the cloth and when nothing happened he lay down facing up, maybe he was just tired after all he had been up for a whole night. He wanted to tell Cassie that he didn't have his wolf yet and ask for her help what he was going to tell people when they ask him what happened, again!
He closed his eyes, he was not ready to admit that he didn't have his wolf but he had to. Asher knew he was not going to stay in his transformation room forever, he needed to go out and face other werewolves.
He opened them, breathe in and with a sigh, he said, "Cassie, I have something to tell you." He waited for Cassie to answer and when he didn't, he asked, "Cassie are you still there?"
Asher tried to listen and waited for Cassie's answer, he close his eyes and started telling himself, "calm down, deep breath boy." He focused on his breathing and when he was sure that he was focused he tried again, "Cassie, are you there?"
There was no answer, dejectedly he stood up telling himself that maybe he was exhausted and his mind had created Cassie's voice in his head so he would find comfort before he headed out, or maybe he was dreaming or something like that.
Asher walked to the window and looked outside, and from another person in the pack their thoughts matched, "well, the architecture did a great job."
He looked at the flowers and how they shone, it was still morning and he thought the sight was really good, he was among the ones who tended the garden in the Dark River Pack, and sometimes he couldn't help but be optimistic about being a witch and that is why he loved the flowers.
In Asher's mind, he knew that witches loved trees and flowers because that was where they got the ingredients for their portions. Don't blame him, sometimes it is good to find something to hold on to while believing your own things.
He walked to the mirror and spoke to himself, "hello it's me. You are doing okay, just go outside there and when you are asked any question, just say you hope next year you will get your wolf, easy-peasy."
He smiled, and with one last trial he called, "Cassie, are you there?" When he didn't get a reply, he opened the door and closed it behind him, leaning on it he smiled and told himself, "I am ready, I was born ready."
