Chapter 6 - Rebellion

"Gentleman, his royal majesty the tsar has given us the oppurtunity to prove ourselves, we must put down the rebellion."

"So, Dimitry, any thoughts on what our course of action should be?"

Dimitry is nervous right now, this is his first time coming up with a plan dealing with an actual enemy, and he doesn't want to fail.

"Your highness, the poles have occupied warsaw and the sorrounding territory.

And they are expanding fast right now as we speak, the best course of action right now would be to capture their ledership, without anyone to lead them the rest will be like headless chickens and easy to pick off.

So I suggest securing safe supply lines and immediatly heading to warsaw."

There is a reason why Dimitry suggested this, they only have a single division, of 10,000 men. It is not enough to cover huge swathes of territory.

So recapturing villages and towns would be time consuming.

Better to go straight for the snakes head, as they say.

"Alright, gather the 1st division, we set off tomorrow morning, failure is not an option, dismissed."

-Eastern Poland, Siedlce-

"Listen up, the rebels have captured the town of Siedlce, and we must take it back and the plan is..."

And so the plan has been set on how to take back the

*BOOM*

*BOOM*

there are sounds of explosions and gunshots, the rebel army, numbering no more then 15K is losing.

Thats not surprising, they barely have any equipment, no discipline or training, they will run away immeditatly when they are about to lose their lives, no morale at all.

6,500 dead, 350 with mild injuries and 30 with severe injuries

8,000 captured

On the 1st divisions side, 1,000 casualties 740 with mild injuries and 297 with serious injuries

Thankfully the 1st division can recruit some of the locals to refill, by offering them some benefits.

"Not bad, send a letter of the victory to the capital, tell them to send troops to garrison the city, meanwhile we will continue to march on, the next destination? Warsaw."

-Warsaw-

"Liutenent, the russians have captured the town of Siedlce, and it seems like they are heading to warsaw"

Piots Wysocki, is frowning, thinking hard about the next steps, he knows that this ragtag group of revolutionaries is no match for the imperial russian army.

"How many troops do they have?"

"Somewhere around 10,000 troops"

"HAH, so arrogant, do they really think that 10k troops is enough?"

"Not only that, the young prince of the russian empire is also with them."

The litenent couldn't be happier, if he manages to capture the prince, he might be able to negotiate with the tsar and secure the full independence of poland.

"Lets Wait for them here, let the foolish prince try and siege warsaw, you need more then twice the number of troops than whats stationed to siege a city, sometimes even more then that, what can he possibly do with 10,000 troops?"

-December 14-

"Your majesty, we are right outside the city of warsaw"

"Good, how many troops do they have, and what kind of fortifications did they set up?"

"They have just over 50,000 men in the city

They have been forcibly conscripting the locals. Some defenses were set up, but they are not nearly enough to pose much a of a threat since they barly had enough time, not to mention that it can simply be bombarded by our artillary."

Alexander has been taught some knowledge about military tactics befpre he transmigrated here, and combined with the memories of the previous owner he knows a thing or two

And one thing that he does notice, is the "forced conscription"

"Dimitry, I have an idea.

The locals have been promised liberation from the russian empire, but can liberation or revolution fill your stomach? No, the rebels have already taken most of the food for the army, and the price of bread has gone up drasticlly, if we give the locals a little push by stopping all the supplies from reaching the city..."

"Then the locals will start rebelling against the rebels"

"Thats a great plan your highness, although the small details need to be thought out in general its great."

Honestly, Dimitry didn't excpect such ruthlessness from a 12 year old, casually saying to starve an entire city.

-December 20-

"Liutenent, we are running out of rations, and the locals are rioting, if we don't do something to get supplies fast, we might have to surrender without even putting up a fight"

Seeing the dire situation he is in, Wysocki makes a daring decision.

"We will attack them today, gather all the able bodied men."

Wysocki could have managed to stay inside the city for a couple more days, but what good would it do if they just starved to death?

They would have higher chance of succeding if they made a last ditch effort, and its not like its guaranteed to fail, they have over 50,000 troops, there is no way that they lose right?

-Outside of warsaw, 1st division-

"General the rebels are getting ready to mount an attack."

"Tell the men to occupy their defensive positions"

While they were choking the opponent, they didn't sit on their asses and do nothing, Dimitry knew that they would try to attack as a last ditch effort, so he built trenches, barbed wire, and various other defensive positions, not to mention having plentry of artillary.

"THEY ARE HERE, FIRE!"

The infantry fires in lines, The line infantry at the front fires first, then they switch places with those behind them and reload and then switch again to fire.

In the trenches it is especially effective since you can get up, fire immediatly and then go down again, minimizing casualties.

Right now the enemy is panicking, all they see are some line in the ground, then someone with a rifle comes up briefly shoots them and goes back to the trench again.

They are also getting bombed by artillery.

Unwilling, how could they be willing, they are suffering massive casualties.

Those at the back seeing their fellow men die are demoralized immediatly, anyways, they were forcefully recruited, whats the point of continuing to march on if you are gonna die?

"DAMN IT, THOSE DAMN RUSSIANS, so cowardly, hiding in their trenches."

"LIUTENENT, the soldiers are defecting the battle field at an alarming pace, and we are suffering heavy casualties, what do we do?"

Gritting his teeth, the liutenent thinks over, no matter what, he cannot lose this battle, he knows what kind of fate awaits him if he gets captured, exile to siberia or even worse, Death.

"Order that if anyone defects, what awaits them is death."

-some unknown time later-

"YOUR HIGHNESS, WE WON!"

Having heard the good news Alexander is happy, so he opens the battle report and reads...
