~Adrien
Blasting off down the stream of so many stairs the first thing in the morning, I curse and vow for a soul to be lost for the commotion howling from the outside.
"OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE"
Bare-chested, only dressed in my loose pants and still half dozing, I intrude on the fight happening in the front yard of my packhouse and seal eyes on the accused two.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING HERE AGAIN?" I yell, helplessly having my veins popping out of my neck.
Can I ever catch a damn break?
The answer swings in front of me. Looking at two wolves attempting to pin each other down and other members distantly enjoying the show, the answer to my question is by bitter honesty unlikely to ever happen.
"stop" my bidding voice chimes into the fresh, morning air.
The wolves' muscles fight against their own volitions, swallowing the fur back in and replacing it with human skin. Human features stare back at me with bafflement. One of them steps impulsively back while the other stays firmly put.
"he-he provoked me" a stutter flees the first guy's mouth, a one that I hadn't seen inside of the pack long enough to remember his name. The other guy isn't any different in that regard.
Sewing my arms against my bare flesh, I stand as the judge that I've always been forced to play and wait for them to make their excuses.
"this asshole harassed my mate and I'm sure as hell as that he works with Greyson"
Another she-wolf assault charge and another trash dude that should be taken out. Nothing unusual, yet my comeback this time will be all but usual.
"so, what?" the other guy shrugs, flaring a daring smirk on his young complexion. "isn't she made for breeding?" glancing around him, he seeks approval on what he is indeed undue of having. "as an alpha, you're terribly unwilling of providing us with what we need. Your father had been much wiser in that regard, I bet your brother would too"
I don't think he knows what the word wise implies, because otherwise, he wouldn't let mere words and retaliation goads cause the end of his life.
I let out a long sigh. I hate doing this, but I'm short on solutions. What a disgraceful waste of a young wolf.
My legs launch on him, quick enough to restrain any upcoming defense he might pull off. I allow my wolf an unrestrained degree of control he would usually wish for. My palms prison his neck, adding the pressure on his windpipe by the counting second.
"how about I give you another generous proposal?" I glare up at him. His body is hung up in the air, struggling against the hold that I'm not planning to loosen. "I have no need for animals like you in my pack. The pack now runs by a new reign, mine. you'll learn how to respect the pack members either wolves or she-wolves and you'll fucking learn how to give me the respect that I deserve" I purposely tune my alpha commanding voice higher, somehow ordering him of what would save him.
His muffled screams for air scrap against my hold "you're not my alpha, and you'll never be" his voice comes out of his throat interrupted and forced as he hopelessly keeps trying to break out free from my firm hand clench.
I was right about two things that I'm not exactly happy about. For first, he is indeed the furthest a sane person can be from wisdom, and for second and foremost, it is indeed a grave waste of souls.
I tighten my grip on his neck and only thrust him higher in the air. Not long, until his struggle halts and his body settles.
Once he stops moving, I throw his dead corpse on the ground, and look enough at it to sigh again.
"Isabelle, clean this mess," My beta sprints from behind me, heeding my call for her. Being the second in command, renders her the true victim of all these commotions.
"right away, alpha," she confirms, plodding in her nightgown and a long silky robe.
As awake and sleep-deprived as I'm now, I might as well share the new rule.
"Anyone else wants to share his or her thoughts with us, please step forward," my yells greet their sour expressions. The recess follows next as everyone in the crowd steps back.
"good, from now on anyone creating or seeking problems in my pack, harassing the females, or mentioning that asshole's name is going to be sent immediately to hell, just like the guy laying on the ground, no more banishing, it is either you submit or die, I hope I made myself clear,"
As everyone bows their heads to my command with no further objections, I walk back into the packhouse straight into the room that I abandoned. Getting into the bathroom, I take off my pants and whirl the faucet on, closing my eyes under the water. Only letting the thoughts of how much shit I have to take care of drill further into me. I'm rotting from the inside out on how many souls that I myself am forced to either send out or straight to hell. All because of a dead guy who no longer even exists. Although my father is long gone, his deeds have lived long behind him to torture me to this very age. Twenty-five into my life and he still hasn't gotten out of it.
I get out of the bathroom, a small towel hooked up on my waist and hair dropping moist behind its trail. I wear some fit clothes and depart on a morning run.
My mind takes me far into places that I don't want to reach until I find myself out of neither my territory nor the forest that is surrounding it. I'm already in the city and far into it.
Receiving all kinds of glances from random passengers, I let my feet drag me across a narrow street, only to have Jay and Stephan's squatting bodies snatch my attention. My two lovely gammas, having a nice chat with some people.
Well, well, what do we have here? Those two fuckers !
the pack is in a commotion while they are enjoying a fine meal with friends.
I storm into the place. Everyone is conservatively gazing at me. Most of the people who lived their entire lives in this city know who I'm, the other half only suspect who I might be, other than the stranger who owns half of the city.
The moment I step inside, a strong, sweet, and very pleasant scent strangles my senses.
While still heading toward the table at which Jay and Stephan are sitting, I can't help but notice the small back of the girl sitting in front of Stephan.
The moment that I stand in front of them, shifting my attention to the little being that is glancing at me in complete shock, my wolf immediately screams—
"mate"
fucking hell.
My eyes have provided me with a new filter to perceive her fine picture. She is breathtaking, weaving her hazel eyes to my heightened level and looking at me with amusing amazement.
Her small body jerks into an abrupt stand, seeking a place that I'm unwilling to let her reach. My inner instincts urge me to restrain her, to pin her by my side—catch her before she could flee.
Seeing that she is wobbling, probably feeling vanquished for the same reason as me, My hand stretches instinctively to catch her arm, backing her up and preventing her from falling.
Such a slim arm for a small being, so delicate it can break if the smallest pressure is to be applied.
A pleasuring feeling of electricity travels my body, awakening a new sensation that I never thought would intrude on my mind.
"What the hell?" she yells, looking at my hand gripping her arm.
Irritation and a whiff of sadness invade my psyche, disturbed by her discomfort toward my touch. Probably due to the alleged mate bond. The bond that all werewolves both fear and wish for.
But I can't help a small smile forming on my face. Now that's a reaction I've never got from females.
I shift my attention from her without releasing her arm, only to notice that the four remaining beings are gazing at us in surprise.
"Alpha Adrien, we can explain," Jay initiates, trying to pull an apologetic smile.
"yes, just hear us out," begs also Stephan, trying to avoid my gaze
I let out a tired sigh. These two are still young for the positions that I gave them. They were never meant to be my third in command gammas, which only confirms once again that my pack is a mess. After my beta and my gammas and a bunch of my warriors led a rebellion against me saying that my half-brother was more worthy of my position as an alpha, I had to kick all the motherfuckers out of the pack, trying to avoid the bloodshed.
"we'll talk about this later," I answer, running my fingers through my hair
"uh-huh... can you release my arm?"
I look at her frowning both in disturbance and anger since I'm still holding her arm and deterring her from moving.
In a normal case, and if I had been a normal alpha who had no concerns in his life but finding his mate, dealing with normal pack's problems, and producing a bloodline of my own, I would want to mark her, because she is born to be mine.
But let's think this through, she's human.
a human as a Luna? What a joke.
a human as a Luna to the blood pack, my pack?
I don't even dare to call it a joke anymore, it is rather an issue. It doesn't matter what my wolf wants, I can't claim her, and I might as well just leave her be.
Not to shine more attention on the twitch of confusion that ruled over her face when Jay and Stephan called me Alpha. She doesn't know anything about us. So, let's leave it at that. That's the reasonable thing to do. Not getting her involved with me is the best choice to keep her safe and keep my wolf sane.
I release her arm, instantly feeling the emptiness caused by the absence of her touch.
this mate bond thing is seriously troublesome.
Clenching my teeth together, I hush the boisterous urge within me to put my hands on her again.
At least her reaction afterward proves that I'm not the only one feeling lonely after releasing her hand.
"Thanks," says the little angel standing beside me.
She is quite short compared to me. But that is probably because I am taller than what an average guy is supposed to be.
"Mara, Jason, I'm leaving, I just remembered that I have things to do at home"
I can tell that she is lying. I gaze at her trembling hands while she packs her things to leave.
I smirk narrowly.
She looks cute when she's nervous
She tucks her messy hair behind her ear and lifts her head to look at me for a few seconds before letting her legs lead her out.
Goddess, how I feel her taking pieces of me with her!
I get out of there. Jay, and Stephan follow me immediately to see what's wrong, after excusing themselves properly.
I run into the woods and shift to run faster.
I arrive at the packhouse, shift back, grab some clothes and get out seeking those idiots.
I grab Jay by the collar of his newly worn t-shirt after he shifted back human.
"care to explain what you two were doing? you just had to sit on the same table with my bloody mate, who is, by the way, a human girl, like I don't have enough problems already "
I know that it isn't these two's fault that my pair is human, and that I now have an extra thing to worry about.
"Please calm down alpha, we didn't know, "Stephan pleads, his eyes wide open, shocked by the fact that the girl he was trying to flirt with, is my godamn mate.
I release Jay and push him backward.
"go back to your work, you two, you are gammas now, you have responsibilities in this pack, that I expect you will take care of before I take care of both of you myself" I yell, scoldingly.
"Of course, we will alpha, don't worry," Stephan says, helping Jay to stand up.
They both roll over, preparing to leave.
"hands and eyes off my mate Stephan, I let you off today because you didn't know, I'm not gonna be much generous the next time"
Stephan nods his head before leaving.
I back myself against a wall, trying to assemble whatever this assaulting morning had left of my scattered thoughts.
A human mate seriously?
