Chapter 19 - Chapter Eighteen: Parting the Curtains

Samuel,

The sound of thunder slammed into me, and the blast sent my body up in the air. While I tried my best to fight against the turbulence force and lost just as fast, unable to pull my limbs back together. I reached the peak and then began to plummet down. A steady glance, and I saw the piece of pigskin running towards where I was going to fall.

Soon I crashed through a window, hitting blue film and a miniature Empire State Building, placed in the middle of a two-side staircase going upwards. Finally hitting and squeaking across the furnished floor, seeing pieces of the miniature fly everywhere. In the silence of my own beating heart, I chuckle to myself. I guess now I could cross over "Distorying the tall building" off my bucket list.

Power was the only thing I was lacking, even if I tried to hit Mammon a hundred times over, he could easily turn the tables in a second. Not to mention his body being able to heal was also a concern, leading me to think of a reasonable way to end it all. Absorbing a large amount of power and hitting him with a single attack.

...

Then came the oversize pig crashing through the same way as me, effortlessly breaking the whole wall part and reaching out for me, causing me to take the flight response. Electricity wrapped around my person, shooting off the floor onto my feet, away from the massive fist, that broke into the ground upon missing me.

"Quit running! I am getting annoyed here! Don't make me kill you!", he snorted while I made the run into the unlit hallway, now thinking if there was a possibility to bring down the whole building on him. In an attempt to follow me, Mammon hunched down and pushed through and broke apart the ceiling and the walls.

"Fuck! You tiny, shitty human!", Mamon complained. Despite his size, Mamon was quick. Dragging his body by pulling himself along by nailing his hand in the flooring. I was able to jump out of his grasp as the hallway ended in stairs leading to the lobby of the building. Quickly him to push himself on his knees and his shoulders into the arch above his head, breaking into it.

The lobby was a rectangular box, with an entrance having a set of three giant glass planes over it. "An easy exit," I thought, but as I went for it. Mamon quickly raised both of his hands over his head, hitting the roof and causing the whole building to shake momentarily. I stumbled forwards forward, falling onto my hands.

A glance back and saw him bring both of his hands down on me, I frog hopped out of the way. A deep rumble shook the whole building, while the floor gave out and broke inwards, causing the Mamon to fall forward onto his face into the basement of the building. While the floor underneath me fell back and up from the front, like a see-saw. With quick thinking, I grabbed the edge and kept myself from falling.

Mamon pushed himself up, breaking even more of the ground, looking up at me. "Oh! What are you hanging for! Dropdown, I won't bite!", He said while giggling, again with that terrible grin, but then he showed me something that brought a sudden smile to my face. He became confused but then figured out that I wasn't looking at him. Then he looked down at what I had seen, multiple pipes broken and turned upwards, leaking what I could easily guess was natural gas.

I quickly pulled up my feet, putting them against the uprooted floor, and with a quick pulse, shot myself up back round in the air. Still grabbing onto the edge, I landed onto it with my feet and point a finger gun at the gas piece. Locking my eyes with his ugly mug, "Bang!", I yelled, shooting a quick and small electric spark right at it, igniting the gas.

...

It happened exactly as one would think, the fire shot up with massive force, blowing towards the ceiling. While I jolted myself out through the glass planes and onto the street. Tethering to the first powerline I saw, pulling off-street as the fire burst outward from the building and the stores built into it on the sides.

Soon I stumbled onto a building on far, feeling like I was out of breath, or I should be. Since at that point I had concluded that I was invincible, completely immune to injury or exhaustion. But that did nothing to help, I understand why Mamon want to drag me to hell. How else are you supposed to defeat a foe that can't be harmed? To trap them for an eternity of course.

...

Then it came sooner than expected, a kaiju-sized Mamon rosed from the rubble. It's roared sounding like a siren, verberating thought empty city. But raising outward from the building caused it to collapse onto itself with a loud rumble, giving me more time to escape. But now I had a plan, to the Ravenwood Powerplant.

I zoom through the streets while the rubble got thrown aside, releasing the monstrosity. His mind was confused and dazed enough to give me time to reach the Queensbridge over the East River. While I jolt over the bridge, my eyes caught the curious figures on the far end. The way was blocked by a large barricade and armed men standing, most likely staring at me flying by.

That made me think, I haven't thought about the outside world yet, somebody might have seen a giant pig monster bursting out of Empire State Building. Also that this whole demon thing was limited to Manhattan, as far as I could tell.

Crossing the bridge, I charged up my feet, and as soon they made an impact with the surface of the water. The pulse shot me forwards and up, effectively allowing me to skip across the water. With many quick pluses, I jolted over to Roosevelt Island. Comming on a grass field around some apartment complex. Turns around to see the frantic figure of Mamon falling on the bridge, shaking it.

He stared at me with his Godzilla size figure now back to that of a giant, we both stared at each other. Suddenly he hunched forwards and bones cracked outwards from his back. Forming a pair of forelimbs with elongated fingers, twice the size of his arm length for both sides. With a supple, smooth black elastic skin stretching from the edge of the forelimb to the tip of an elongated finger.

I stared in disbelief for a few moments, not thinking that I would be able to see pigs fly. I continued, turning around and making a run for the power plant. Skipping across the east channel and coming close to the loading bay behind the Ravenwood. Soon enough a falling shadow came above me and in the last hop, I turned around my head.

"You only get so far!", he roared, diving right at me and looking forwards in my last moments. I aim my hand at the crane, there to bring in the shipments. Then allowing myself to fall into the water with Mamon diving in behind me. Electricity jolted out from my hand through the water and Tethering to the crane, while Mamon skunked faster than a fifteen-year-old.

He spread his wings wide, to stop himself from skunking deeper. While I went past his arms and up to his face. Stomping my foot into it, electricity collecting for a good second before blast shot me out of the water burning his face and smugging the water with molten gold. I pulled myself onto the loading bat and socked, falling onto the ground with a wet splodge.

Immediately felt eyes fall on me from many workers, who found a child coming out of the river. Quickly standing back on my feet, I started to walk towards the door going inside, segmented by the railings. While two workers rushed over to me, "Hey? kid, where do you think...". And I interrupted them by shooting electricity hitting at their feet, causing them to jump back.

"Get lost", I said looking past them to the edge, seeing a massive hand emerging. Nailing onto the ground, which was also seen by the two workers and probably more. Quickly I entered the building closing the door behind me. Before me, was a warehouse-like space with defining sound of machinery running hot.

With two white cylindrical machines, segmented into four parts, the second smaller than the last, and ending into two iron color generators right for picking. There were many workers around the machinery as well, wearing noise-canceling headphones and hard hats. Unable to warn them of their impending doom, not that they could be saved anyway.

I quickly ran towards the generator, placed length-wise, while a worker grabbed me. I look at him, he had a confused look, probably wondering about a kid being here. Not having time for that, I jolted him away, purposely alerting those workers which had spotted me. Soon the raging Mamon broke through the wall, holding a topless worker from outside, and threw him aside, shaking the whole building.

...

While every sensible person began to run away in terror. While he found me standing between the two generators. I could feel the electricity beneath my feet and I was about to suck it all dry.

"Finally stopping, huh! I had it enough with you!", He roared and I smiled back. I began by tethering my hands to the generators, "Then come at me, you execrable fuck!". Mamon taking up the challenge sprinted at me, his arm ready and up to tear into me.

The electricity gripped my arms, with the familiar feeling of my whole body tensing up and going numb. Electricity followed into the gloves, while my vision started to zoom out. As he got closer, he started to slow down. His pig face twisted in a wrathful expression and nerves underneath his skin bulged out. His massive hands were up in the air, slowly coming down at me.

...

Suddenly the electric tether released my hand and I felt different, much lighter while I felt this itch all over my skin. But then my attention fell onto my hands and gloves. The cobalt glowing metal had grown throughout the glove's fiber in segments. Still allowing it to move as gloves, but significantly heavier than before.

"Fancy, aren't they?", a static voice said with a figure from before appearing again. He grabbed my hands, I stared at him, trying to make some sense of the static appearance. Only making out a male figure, about my size with short hair. "These are from one of the many worlds in my world, made from a metal that feeds on electricity. Oh, how unfortunate was that world that was taken over by this parasitic metal", he explained looking at my gloves.

"Who are you", I quickly asked ignoring what he said and looking at me. "Did you already forget my name?", he said letting go of my hands. "I thought I was being delusional", I replied. The static figure sighed, as he floated around me. "Its Aquila, I am a child of Distortion from the Distortion itself. It's a world where many other worlds cover into one", He said coming behind me and pushing me forward.

"Now, now. You should not waste all this energy, now quickly go and put your hand inside the creature's torso as if you are parting the curtains", I instructed and I followed. Walking past the forever incoming arm of Mamon and standing before his person. Putting my hands forwards, which effortlessly went inside his flesh, with a burning sensation of molten gold.

"Now release it all in one flow... and don't forget to give my regards to the Saint", after saying that Aquila went quiet. While I fixed foot forwards and took a deep breath in, then parted the way. Everything went silent with loud piercing noise and a bright flash.

...

When my senses came to, I was standing in the rubble of my own making. looking around, I had made myself a cozy crater of all of the Ravenwood Powerplant and had pushed the rubble onto the surrounding area, with no human insight. My gloves on the other hand had become more solid and heavy.

Turning around, I found the miss gorgeous sitting with her legs crossed on a large piece of rubble. She smiled at me, giving me applause, while I tugged my hands in the pockets of my trousers and walked over to her.

"Amazing, you managed to destroy everything around where you set your foot. Are you satisfied?", she asked. "I don't like how you talk, but I guess it's okay when looking this good", I replied. She chuckled and stepped on her feet, walking over to me. "Running mouth like that, won't get you anywhere, Samuel", she replied.

I pointed my finger at her, "Who said anything about getting anywhere with you. All I am wondering, how much electricity will it take to end you". She smile and grabbed my wrist, with her icy cold hands? "Oh how brave of you child", she said with dread in her eyes.

At that moment, I didn't know where it came from, but this fear gripped my heart. While she raised her finger from her other hand and placed it on the top of my forearm.

With a quick motion she traced it down, a sudden pain rushed up and blood spurred outwards. Horrified, I screamed in pain, as I tried to pull back my arm back, but her grip was stronger. But as soon as it had come, the pain went away. I stared at my arm, blood flowing aside, seeing the wound had disappeared.

I looked back at her, she tilted her hand with a serious expression. "Samuel, by no means is it impossible to harm you. It's just annoyingly difficult and of course, me being an exception to that rule", she said leading with a pause, then a sudden smile coming to her face. As she raised her hand and gently grabbed the side of my neck.

...

While I stood straight as a pole, she leaned in towards my face and slowly kissed me on my lips. The moment felt like an eternity, as I held my breath. Feeling the sensation of her cold yet soft lips against mine. The warmth raised around my ears and back of my neck and the feeling of my stomach-turning.

A second later she pulled back and I stared at her blankly. "Think of this, as your reward for being a good boy. Keep it up and you can have more", She said with a sly tone, letting go of me. She didn't say anything further and walked away while taking out her phone from her coat pocket.

While I stared at her in shock, awe, and confusion, while feeling an immense amount of fear and hunching forwards hiding the stiffness. Coming only to one conclusion, I would like more.
