Sienna wobbled a little as her heel tipped into a crack in the road.
When she nearly lost her balance and snapped her ankle again, she sighed and bent down to undo the thin, silvery straps of her high heels, and stepped out onto the ground barefoot.
Linking her fingers through the straps, she picked up her shoes and kept walking.
Under her feet, the gravel and little pebbles that scratched her feet went unnoticed. The discomfort they caused was nothing compared to the sharp stabbing pain in her heart.
Damon had gone missing and she felt bad. She had promised him to stay by his side and then almost immediately, she had ditched him to talk to Alison.
Hoping he hadn't given up on her, she had gone in search of him.
Her phone buzzed and she checked it, thinking it was Damon. But what she saw had her frozen and staring at the phone screen.
