Chapter 2 - Prologue {Part 2}

Upon reaching the bar, an eerie silence pervaded the area in an instant. I felt strange. The feeling of instinctual terror took over and I froze in place. The instant I turned to check for the source the feeling disappeared and the area was back to normal.

"What... Wha- What was that?... My imagination? I mean I guess it's possible with everything else that's going on... But, what was that feeling of pure dread I felt? I- I should head inside." And so I did.

Upon entering, the atmosphere was 'interesting' to say the least. You had members of the mob and people of influence sitting with each other talking about who knows what, while others were exchanging money and weaponry. Not a place I wanted to become a part of, but it was the second closest bar from my house. The instant I walked in everyone stared at me before resuming their activities. Not that I really cared, I just wanted to forget that entire day.

I followed the path and sat at the bar. My head was still down and I was wearing an outfit that hid most of my figure.

"What ya here for pal?" asked the barkeep (bartender).

"Anything strong enough to make me forget the entire day if possible..." I replied, of course I wasn't expecting anything that could actually help me with that.

"Another wash up eh? I'll see what I can do pal. But are you certain?" The man asked.

I stared at him in disbelief for a while before gradually nodding my head. 'If I could forget this entire day my life would be... what would it be...' I thought to myself.

The man behind the counter laughed at the various expressions on my face before whispering to me. "I'll let you come to an actual decision, once you've made it just order the Le frantede graud, and say these words if you really want to forget. 'Ut obliviscatur et liberum vivere'."

"What does that mean?" I asked fairly confused at this point.

" 'To forget and live free' my friend, to forget and live free." He gave a kind smile and walked away to take care of the other patrons there after sliding me a drink.

"You shouldn't be here." A hooded figure said after taking a seat next to me.

"Excuse me?" I asked them in bewilderment, I mean they weren't wrong but I wasn't harming anyone just by being there.

"You should leave, before things get out of hand." The figure spoke once again, trying to hide their appearance from me.

Their attempt had failed as I noticed something strange about them at that moment.

I happened to see a weird and eerie looking tattoo on the person's hand. Or so I thought it was at the time.

Remembering what the person had said a moment ago, in the near emotionless tone that made them sound even creepier than before, I chose to stand up and leave the bar. Of course I didn't fail to look back as I was leaving, which was just in time to see the figure stand up and simply vanish into thin air.

Now I was terrified and ran home as fast as I could. Occasionally I would check my surroundings making sure I wasn't being followed. "What the fu- wh-What do I even do in this situation... No, no no no no no... I'm just hallucinating, I've got to be... there's no way somebody just gets up and disappears into thin air. I mean I have to be."

After finally making it home, I take another moment to reinforce the idea that what I'd just seen was only in my head. After all who'd believe it if you told them you'd seen a monster, let alone a person who could disappear without a trace. To clear my mind I turn on the television, it just happens to be on the news channel, and what I see in the next moment sends my already scrambled thoughts into the void.

On the screen was an image I was all too familiar with. "Isn't that- F*ck! There's no way! I just left the place 30 minutes ago!" On the screen, the bar I had just left was showing, covered by police tape and flashing lights.

"Earlier today just around half an hour ago, a mass murder took place leaving none alive, we don't have much info aside from what the supposed suspect looks like. Here's a photo. If you see the individual in the photo stay away as they are considered armed and dangerous." A voice from the tv spoke. But at this moment I was broken. I had no idea of what could have happened or why the photo on the television happened to be a photo of myself. I was traumatized and dumbfounded.

"How? Didn't I leave while everything was still perfectly fine? Why am I on the screen!? I, I didn't do anything!" At this moment I look down, staring at the floor in disbelief.

"It'll be fine, they'll figure out I'm innocent sooner or later. Until then I'll just stay home and not cause trouble for anyone."

After calming myself to a state where I could at least think, I go into the kitchen and start making food, just to calm my nerves even more. I like to do creative stuff when I get nervous after all, and the recent stuff just made me want to do something simple. Unfortunately this is yet another mistake.

As I'm in the middle of cutting vegetables, a loud bang resounds from the front door, followed by yet another loud bang. The first bang causes me to cut myself with the knife. It wasn't a bad cut, but it was still enough to draw a bit of blood. The knife was now covered in a bit of blood, but I was more preoccupied with myself and the front door. After washing my hand and bandaging it in around 30 seconds, a third bang followed by what sounds like a thud of something heavy hitting the floor enters my ears.
