I became still from the sound of footsteps against the wooden floor coming my way. Who could it be?. I looked at the little girl in front of me but she didn't seem afraid. I gave her a sign to remain quiet then slowly picked up a sharp, rough wood from the floor. And with immediate movement, I turned, aiming at the chest region. That usually works to mame your target but unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough. Before I could stab him, he'd already grabbed my hand, stopping me halfway. I tried freeing my hand or using other ways to protect myself but paused in my tracks the moment I saw his face. It all came to light now. I had totally forgotten that I wasn't dead and that someone actually saved me from being cut open. I hadn't even bothered to see his face, but this was no stranger. It was the demon lord I had an encounter with earlier. " M-my lord?" He just gazed down at me with the sharp wood still sticking out of my hand. The stick smoothly crumbled to dust right before my eyes and was carried away by the wind like it was never there. I was left agaped. He let go of my hand making it fall beside me. After a while of bewilderment, I touched my hand to be sure it was real, that it hadn't also turned to dust. " Forgive me my lord i didn't know it was you"
" What are you?"
" Huh"
" Your not a demon so what are you"
" Oh, I, um, I'm human"
" I see". I looked down from his scrutiny. From his shirt down to his belt and noticed how expensive it was. The material is not common in this town, it's very rare. I'd seen it once or twice maybe. His buttons made of precious stones and threads, made of gold. What attracted me more was his belt. Made of silver and foreign inscriptions. It certainly seemed heavy. Suddenly, I felt very conscious being so close to him and withdrew my steps. Still bowing.
" You come with me. Seeing as there's nothing here for you anymore. It's only makes you helpless. You'll certainly be very useful to me. Let's go". He made to move, then stopped and turned. "And the girl goes nowhere with you" he said and left before I could say anything. I couldn't possibly leave her here. I certainly wasn't going to do that. Turning behind me was to find it empty. The girl was not where I left her. Where did she go to?. I began searching the entire place, but still couldn't find her after a while. Now that's very strange. How could she have gone so far and fast without me noticing, that too, without leaving a trail behind. I became creeped out and immediately left the destroyed bar.
The sky shone reddish purple, indicating that night was close. I looked around and found the demon lord near a black stallion. It seemed restless but later calmed down after receiving several stroking from him. He seemed to have noticed my presence and turned to me. Without exchanging any words, he mounted the stallion and I immediately ran to him so I wouldn't be left out. He gave me a hand in climbing the stallion and I sat infront of him. Settling properly, his hands passed through my waist to hold the reins of his stallion. I became very uncomfortable and sat still like a pole. He noticed this but ignored me. Hitting the stallion, it started moving and instantly I lost my stance making me lean my back on his chest from the impact. Scared of falling, I remained calm in his chest. It felt safe anyway. I managed to relax my bones and found confort. From what I knew, it seemed like we were going north, but why?. I thought he belonged to the south region, why is he going north. It didn't matter where he was going to anyways, I was with him now so where ever he went, I had to follow as well. Being with a demon lord was very beneficial. I didn't have to be scared of protection cause I certainly had that with him. So for now, all I had to do was stick to him, at least for now till i got myself back. We travelled for hours and the sky gradually got a darker hue to it every minute that passed by. The vicious wind blowing without care was kind of soothing. It eased my nerves and made me relax a bit. From the effect of the wind, I finally dozed off. That was probably what I needed. And I didn't bother that I did that while leaning on his chest.
It was very dark and all I could hear were noises. Screams full of pain and suffering. But admist it was one voice, that voice i so much knew and cherished. I tried to single his voice from the crowd and finally found it. He was there. There, standing without a soul. He looked deranged with blood dripping steadily from his body. Very bloody, I closed my eyes feeling the pain that struck my heart. Those eyes, those grey eyes I saw much admired now had no life in them. His pretty face he took from my mother was now unrecognizable. He was dying and I couldn't withstand it anymore. He stretched out his hand as if he was calling out to me. I was in so much pain seeing him like that all I wanted to do was to hold him, and hug and assure that I was there with him and it was going to be alright. I reached out my hand to try and get a hold him but couldn't reach. I moved closer and closer to him but it just seemed like I was walking for eternity. I wasn't able to reach him. He was just a meter away from me but it seemed like he was a mile away and I couldn't tolerate the distance anymore so I kept on moving. with every step bringing him back to life. With an outstretched hand, I made to touch his. Just a bit more and...
The sound of the neighing of a horse woke me up. I leaned straight after finding out that it was just a dream. Apparently I was sleeping on the stallion and wasn't moving. Sitting straight, I rubbed my eyes and had clear sight of the night. Night? Where's the demon. Where are we? I looked at the sky and saw the moon. How long have we been traveling. " Ugh! We go south" I jumped from being startled. God, he scared me, and what was he doing kneeling on the floor? "My lord"
He moved back to the horse and mounted it. "We need to stop for the night. The distance is not very far" I just nodded my head and leaned back against him. The ride was a quiet peaceful one. I was very hungry by now, I hadn't drank water or eaten anything edible since the incident and the nap just seemed to worsen it for me. *Sigh*
"You shouldn't listen to your dreams most times. It's either there to mislead you or show you the right path. Don't act on impulse or do what your dream wants you to do. It can lead you to trouble where there's no going back. So be sure to control it."
How did he know I had a dream. I had several questions running in my mind. Should I ask him? I felt the wind hit me harder and I knew we were speeding.
Regardless, I didn't think I understood what he said so I took it to the back of my mind.
