"Can you just make someone rich? Like snap your fingers and there is money?" She was looking at how much she had on her. Looked like she needed to pay with a card.
"It has to come from somewhere, but yes. I can procure money or goods."
"Man being rich would be nice."
"Is that what you want me to do?" She was silent for a moment.
"Asking you to do such things sounds like a slippery slope I can't come back from. I was hoping you had a pile of gold somewhere hidden. You said you were like a king, didn't realize I was with royalty." He had a slight sly look to him.
"Only an idiot wouldn't put things away for themselves in an emergency."
"So you do have gold squirreled away, be upset if I commanded it from you?" He shrugged.
"If we are in agreement, we are technically married. What's mine is yours, and the only way we wouldn't have the same is if one of us died. Namely you, because that's how it always goes. You won't need it when you are dead and I'll take it back."
"God, buzz. Kill." She grabbed a cart and he shrugged again but she noticed the slight smile. Well that was nice, he found it funny. Well better a happy assassin at your side than a pissed off one right?
"Still, if that is what you want…"
"Listen changing the way you ask a command of me doesn't make it any less annoying." She was trying to speak under her breath so others wouldn't look at her oddly. But she wasn't exactly surrounded either.
"It's what I'm here for. This request doesn't make you a robber does it? Easy and it doesn't anger either of us."
"But it gives you your command." She didn't look at him as she said it. "I don't trust you with your command."
"In the light of our current middle ground, that is probably a fair assessment on your part." She glanced at him and he was watching her as she pulled some items off the shelf.
"And for the sake of being transparent, because I got a very good sense before, what if I command you can't touch me in any way? Kind of puts a damper on feeding or anything else wouldn't you say?"
"I guess you'd have to command it and find out." Well that was a card well played, if she wanted to find out what held at the time his chance to command her came then she was giving it to him. Or she could command the answer get it and make a command, but then she wouldn't know if his played off of only the first five and his second then played off the next set. So many freaking rules and twists and loopholes. Damn it he was right she really didn't know much here.
"You don't really need to feed again, I haven't made you do anything." She told him and he followed behind her studying her. Her hair was down today, she looked nice with it down. It complimented her well. He also liked the feel of it.
"I want to feed, I like the way you taste." No reason to lie about it, where was that really going to get them? It was pretty much an open playing field here, it was just figuring out how to move around the board.
"Okay, how about we not make me feel like food."
"Is that a command?" She turned and slapped his upper arm. He looked down at his arm, never been reprimanded in such a… mundane way. It was kind of novel really, she was odd.
"Stop being so annoying you know damn well what is a command or not from me."
"Actually you're very wishy washy, it's hard to tell." She put her hands on her hips looking at him irritated.
"I am not wishy washy."
"Yes you are. Be glad I ask for clarification." She had this tinge to her face of anger and her eyes were a bit more fiery at the moment. She also had a bit of a temper, his gaze moved over her and he had the urge to reach forward, to get a hold of her. It fed an excitement inside of him, but she turned and moved forward before he could. He realized that he had raised a hand up. She was causing things in him, reactions he wasn't really in control of. It was kind of nice he realized. To desire someone in that way. It just hit you.
"I am not." She was mumbling something and he was amused at her, clearly she was not happy with his assessment of her. God it was nice to feel amused and not depressed.
"Look you want something? You ate a good amount in my house, apparently I'm obligated to feed you." He stepped up looking at what she had in her cart and then what she was looking at. Really he never thought about the food that he had.
"Whatever, I'll eat it." He told her.
"Appears men never change." He raised an eyebrow at her but didn't rise to the bait. She grabbed more items and put them in the cart, he glanced about. How far societies had come, how small the world. Yet so disconnected. It was odd to see it from his point of view.
"So what can you do exactly? Besides the deadly, I mean you are telepathic and can appear where you want. You have magic?" He looked at the items they were passing, some of which he wasn't sure just what they were, or would taste like. The ability to gain knowledge from interaction wasn't full proof.
"Magic of a sort I guess some would call it that. Or abilities."
"Can you heal people? No matter how sick?"
"There is a limit to what I can heal, but if they are willing to fight I can heal most from near death. Also depends on what is killing them. A wound that is immediate and just happened could be easier than a cancer growing for years. More energy." He told her. "My mother is considered a darker goddess, so my powers don't tend to be of light."
"Hmmm, I'm so shocked. I'd have put you up for humanitarian of the year and I just met you." Her tone was fake and cheery. He kind of rolled his eyes annoyed and amused at the same time. You know this stroll through the market was bland and nice. Civil conversation was nice, when was the last time he'd had this?
"You have any other abilities, like manifesting fire or something? You talk to animals?" She had very random questions. Most really just like how he could get from one place to another with a thought, and walls didn't stop him nor simple containment or protection spells. That he could destroy entire cities given the chance.
"Fire, lighting yes. Animals I don't necessarily speak with, but certain kinds I can commune with to do as I wish. I have the ability to shapeshift if I so wish." He picked up a can looking at the soda and trying to decide if the dark colored liquid was something he'd like. She turned to him with a shocked look.
"Shut up!" He gave her a look that clearly said he thought she was being rude.
"You can become something else? Like what anything? Man that would be so amazing, can you like gift others?"
"If you noted the depiction and picture on my contract that might clue you in. Predators are easier for me than other things, I'm more in tune with them to speak. Gifting only some things. Not that kind of gift however, mind reading or telekinesis yes. Though I know of one that could gift such a thing." He'd been asked to give immortality, he couldn't do that. Not in his power to do so. Though he could elongate one's life, actually being in a contract with him slowed down their natural aging process.
"Oh, well that's kind of cool. Dragons are real?"
"Depends who you ask and where you ask. In this reality they long ago left for other places, same with a great number of other beings. Your planet is growing sick, I suggest you fix it."
"I'm one person, I do what I can." She said defensively and he shrugged. "And realities, how many are there?" She realized they were just standing there in the market and a couple teenagers were looking at her strangely. She turned and moved onward down a deserted aisle with him in tow.
"Many, more than I can count. Realities are and then aren't, yet they seem to be endless."
"Okay Aristotle." Again he shrugged and she got a few more items before moving to check out. She let out a rush of breath and put her items on the counter and looked at him. He was drinking something that she just realized he kept from the shelf. He kind of gave a half shrug like he seemed to like it and drank a bit more. She nearly told him to put it down in front of all the people in line but she caught herself.
'You have to pay for that, that's stealing.' She thought at him.
'And I care because? You get it if you want, I was curious about the taste.' Seeing he wasn't noticed, and clearly there was no floating bottle to anyone else she just grumbled under her breath. Then paid for her items while he finished the cola. She shook her head and moved to leave the store with him again following.
Kora made it out the doors and turned the cart around to go to where her car was parked. She nearly ran into someone just standing there. She looked at this person, a woman with long black hair swept to the side and pale skin. She was wearing rather simple clothes to be honest, a red close fitting sweater and black pants, her eyes however were jet black. Despite that though she was a very beautiful woman. She also seemed to be squinting a bit in the light of the day.
"Uh." It was the only thing that came out of Kora's mouth standing there on the sidewalk. What was this now? Was this a witch? Some other crazy train sailing in because of Orion? Kora was still half wondering how sane she really was. However sane or not she tensed, what if this was a witch? Was she about to have a fight on her hands?
"You may have a problem shortly." She wasn't looking at Kora but next to her at Orion. Kora looked at him, and he didn't look very happy anymore. He looked a bit more stoic to be honest. Well, he didn't seem like this was an issue. So who was this?
"Are you invisible too?" Kora asked glancing about, man she had to look insane to others if they were paying attention. Who was this person now? Since Orion didn't seem ready to fight or anything she figured they were on his side. Maybe.
"I have no reason to be seen." The woman responded and Kora turned her cart taking a breath.
"If I'm not losing my mind, the world is a horrifying place." She just moved forward toward the car. Orion watched her and went to move after her. Yes it was, and Kora's world view was being torn open clearly. Orion hoped that Nyx took the hint as he walked away.
"I always have problems, what is the difference now?" Orion growled at his mother. He didn't want to talk with her. She always made things worse, even if she was trying to help.
"You might care if it will get her killed." Kora had moved forward from them and clearly wasn't paying attention to them. He was sure she was trying to figure out how badly her mind was playing tricks or if it was real.
"After all that one might give you a way out, I'd rather keep her alive too." He paused looking at her, Nyx couldn't do anything to those he was in a contract with. Not unless his mistress commanded him to call her. Kora knew nothing about Nyx until now. Still didn't think she was going to command something.
"Anyone that might help me be free has to die. No one wants to die, and not for me. Besides, I can't speak to her of it anyways." He continued on and Nyx followed him.
"Exactly why, good people do stupid things. Be nice to her, if you can get her to care she might be willing to die." He stopped and looked at his mother. What was it going to take to get her to understand his point of view?
