Chapter 41 - The syringe

"The king never stays in the palace for too long. He travels a lot and that is why he can bring order to our world," the man told me seriously.

I was angry. It was only right that I should be. I also yielded to the strong urge I felt to roll my eyes.

I went along with my cat to a facility that I could call a normal hospital or maybe some kind of research institute? I don't know as I have never had to be in such a situation where I will need a chip to be inserted into my body.

It was also not a simple chip but one that would help me communicate with a cat. They were nice and wore gentle smiles as they asked me to fill out a form.

When I was having problems filling it because I had no idea. I did not even know how old I was in this world, I asked my cat to take care of it for me and she did.

She has filled the form and we were led into the room with a woman I could call a normal nurse or some sort of lab attendant, well I don't know.

She took us three into a room that could be big enough to make a simple bathroom and told us to sit down. we obeyed because at that point, I had no idea of what was happening.

I felt hot and thirsty and for unknown reasons, I could not keep my legs still. Well, I was nervous I guess, or scared. This could be one of those facilities they use humans for experiments in, right?

I turned to my cat and the man who appeared so calm. "Have you two been here before?" I asked them if they might be comfortable because they were familiar with the place.

"Yes, you have been in such a place before. They will inject it into your wrist there is no need to be scared," my cat replied looking down at my legs that shook uncontrollably.

"I am not scared," I did not hesitate to feign the courage I wish I had. Well, who would not do so to save face?

The woman who brought us there returned with three other people and it felt very crampy in the tight space. I exhaled trying to ease the tension I felt in my limbs but only succeeded in making my heart race faster.

"We will inject it in your wrist and we need you to remain calm while we do it. Mr. Aaron, we will need you to choose the hand you want. Your left or right?"

I paused and smiled tightly why does she have to make it sound like it was so death and life decision. If it was, then I am out. I looked at my cat pleadingly.

She looked away and I was left to give them the answer they needed. "Will there be any side effects?" I asked worriedly as that was the only thing I could think of at the moment.

"No, there won't be any. You will have to return tomorrow so we could do the necessary digital connections," the man replied seriously.

I nodded and stretched my right hand. "You can put the chip here," I told them.

One of them opened a box and walked over to me before swatting beside my seat. He opened the box and pulled out a syringe.

Now I am not sure if I could call that a syringe because I have never seen a metal syringe before with no atom of plastic or rubbed on it.

I held my breath after uncuffing my sleeve and rolling it up a little. The bare skin of my hand was exposed to their devilish-looking syringes.

As the needle approached my skin and I pressed my lips together. I was still confused about how they were going to inject a most likely metal chip into my body but I did not want to know anymore.

I just wanted to be over and done with so I could leave. I was breathing properly in here. It was not a problem with ventilation but I was not comfortable.

I felt a piercing pain in my wrist and I winced. It only lasted for a few seconds and it was over when I opened my eyes. The man who injected me had stood up and walked towards the door.

"Please do not forget that he must come back tomorrow," the woman told Mr. Jeffrey. She smiled and nodded at me before walking out of the room.

I looked down at my wrist and apart from a red dot, there was nothing else out of place on it. I touched it lightly at first scared to feel pain.

There was no pain and I pressed it but there was still no pain. "You should stop pressing it," my cat warned me.

I turned and glared at her. "Did they inject the chip in your wrist?" I asked her.

She nodded and got down from the chair she had made herself comfortable through all these. She was the first to walk out of the room when Jeffrey stood up and opened the door.

I followed Jeffrey with my eyes narrowed and my brow wrinkled. I looked around. The corridor was busy and everyone seemed to be minding their businesses as I walked out of the place.

I looked at my wrist again in the car. "What happened just now?" I asked in serious need of a detailed explanation.

"You got the communication chip around with your cat, young master and it is a very natural process for an adult in this world," Jeffrey replied seriously but he was simply telling me what I already knew.

"What does the chip look like?" I asked Jeffrey. I could not feel it in my wrist where it was supposed to be and it was so painless. If something foreign enters my wrist to stay, I should feel pain, right?

"It is small and colorless when seen with an unaided eye," Jeffrey replied.

"What material is it made from?"

"It is made from the diamond thread your family mine," my cat replied to me sharply.

I sensed displeasure in her voice and turned to look at her with my lips paused painfully. I want to hit her so badly.

She knew such important information and she was hiding it from me and she had the gut to talk to me like I was a student who had a problem remembering and understanding what was taught.
