That was not a joke really. I wanted to cry so much but crying will be embarrassing as well as unproductive. I clenched my fist.
I tried to look firm and confident but I was picturing myself fighting a robot. Imagine, I have never imagined doing that in my life.
I was not one of those people crazy about robots but I was not against their production while on earth but right now, I felt a strong sense of hate towards the whole existence of robots.
I watched people protest against how robots were taking over their jobs.
Then, I knew that a robot could never be the director of my father's hospital in my life time so I did not even bother to glance back at the screen of the television then but now, I swear that I would be at the forefront of the protest.
In fact, I might be the person to turn it into a riot that will lead to a massive destruction of all the robots or probably even all machines.
Now that might make me sound like a sadist but I know the weakness of humans. After all, I died due to one of the many weaknesses humans have but how will I deal with a robot I knew nothing about when it was not like I was a member of the robotics club back on earth.
Please don't mind me ranting to you about it. My sincere apologies.
Then, I had no one to talk to. I could not tell my cute cat how I was sure that we would die due to my incompetence.
I wished I joined the robotics club when I was on earth, it had a lot of good sponsors that made it one of the best clubs in school after the club joined.
"We will find a way out of this," my cat encouraged me looking out of the window.
I blushed in embarrassment. I should be the one encouraging her that her master will get us both out if it. She almost died the last time and I was not going to be the liability in this relationship anymore.
"Yes, you and I will find a way out of this and remember that I will not stand by and watch anyone hurt you," I reminded her with determination.
She only nodded with her gaze fixed out of the window and that made me follow her to the window. I pushed aside the extravagant European style curtain and looked outside the closed glass window.
The sky was green, blue and white in light shades swiping left and right in the sky like a work of art. It was breath-taking especially the large day-time natural satellite.
A hill covered with a thick blanket of vegetation blocked off the lower half of the round white and red natural satellite that seemed to blend slightly into the daytime sky like a circular cloud out of place.
I looked down at the tall wall of the house that prevented me from seeing anything more. I was not on the ground floor and from my estimates, we were a couple floors above the ground floor.
A garden lay below. I could not see the individual beauty of the flowers and well-trimmed trees but the blend of colors looked too dreamy to be real.
A lake covered by steam was away from the garden before the tall walls. The steam looked like a cloud below. I smiled subconsciously wishing I could take all these back to earth to show them of how beautiful this world was.
Now, don't think I loved it too much to not want to return to my mother. Seeing beautiful things like this that I could not share with her simply made me miss her more. I wondered what she was doing at the moment at home or at work.
"We will have to leave this house to make it back to earth, right?" I asked my cat.
"Yes, all those I love will miss my presence. I was their hope. They were all waiting for me to be done with my studies so that I could shoulder the financial responsibilities of the family and ensure my siblings get educated.
"I must return back to earth. Things are hard and I must make it easier for them all," she told me with so much sincerity and determination that had me getting teary.
How could she be so strong? I have had it easier but we still died and we were in the same place.
I must say that even if I return to earth today, I have learnt enough to make me a matured and strong man. I have matured faster than I have ever imagined and it's all thanks to my cat.
I looked out of the window again but I could not see the presence of any human or even the robots. What if we were alone in the house?
I looked at the door that I concluded was locked and did not even bother opening. Bad move! I ran to the door with the plan to open it or even break it down. Well, if any of that will be possible.
Before my hands touched the fancy classic doorknob, a soft knock came from the other side of the door making my hand hang in the air.
I literally turned to a block of ice if that was possible. I bet I looked funny with the sure complicated expression I wore to express the complicated thoughts going on my mind.
First, I looked around for any camera. Was I being watched? That knocked came too soon or maybe I was simply overthinking, right?
I looked at my cat which was hurrying over to her basket and sat in it like she was asleep. I swallowed and began walking back to by bed to copy my cat.
The knock came again but this time, I little louder and urgent. I swallowed and glanced at my cat who betrayed me.
I walked back to the door and turned the doorknob as soon as my hand touched the golden metal while my heart almost literally refused to drop from my throat to its original spot in my chest.
Well, the door opened. I know you must be calling me a fool for not trying the door earlier. Like the door has been open for all these while.
The smiling face of a young woman perhaps in her early thirties by the earth aging method stood with her hands held before her.
I swallowed and raised my eyebrows with a questioning look.
"Young master, the master wants to speak to you in his study. You should take your bath, dress up and I will be waiting for you in front of the door," the woman told me with a gentle voice that I found to be very elegant but I did not miss the subtle presence in hostility in her voice.
