I raised my head and looked at her. "I almost died, right? No, I died," I said watching her closely for any detail I could not afford to miss.
She reached for her glass of wine and refilled it before taking a sip and smiling at me so calmly, I would have been fooled if I had not taken note of the pain I saw in her eyes, though slight, it was still there and I recognized it as a desire to hide a painful truth from me.
"Is that why you gave me the diamond thread?" I asked her as I continued to watch. I almost could not spare less than a second for a blink to rest my eyes as I looked at her.
"Diamonds are hard, it will be difficult to make one into a thread but I am sure I could find someone capable to make one for you and I will give you one," she feigned ignorance as she told me.
