"It was a joke. She did not mean it literally. She told me she had to tell you that to make you give her the painting."
I had to make it clear to him since he seemed to not understand that she was willing to say anything to have him give her the painting since he had appeared to be so strong-headed that she felt he was not going to hive her if she simply asks for it.
