"It is better we have someone away from the palace help us," I said thoughtfully. I was not sure she was going to help but I had the answer to her question.
We spoke for a while before she left and I was forced to wait for her to return with my step-sister or alone.
She did return a day later and she returned alone. I waited for her to speak as she looked so sad it made my heart race. I bit my lower lip before sitting on the rug.
"You step-sister is dead," she broke the news bluntly after a few minutes of silence that gripped my heart with sharp claws like that of an eagle.
"How did she die?" I asked silently as it took a while for me to understand what she meant by that. in fact, I was unwilling to believe her.
"She was killed by the new king. Your family was annihilated by the king. He claims he was wiping off all the corrupted officials and wealthy men. Your family was not the only one destroyed," she narrated solemnly.
