Chapter 8 - God and Goddess

Sam and Sara were still standing in front of the house as Logan and Alice walked away. Sam grabbed his wife's shoulder, which Sara returned, leaning her head.

"What are you worrying about?"

"I've been a mom to Logan for 21 years."

"I know what you feel. He might be our son and not at the same time."

"Do you think so? What is happening?"

"I'm not sure, but his power threw up really high. Yesterday he was a tier 1, and today he is almost at breakthrough to tier 3."

Basic information of an adventurer regarding their first name, tier, and the class was possible for others to learn if that person has a contract with some soul or has an item helpful in granting that ability. That was how Sam could find out Logan's tier, who was now at 2.

Whereas he discovered how Logan could almost breakthrough to tier 3 was more to the senses he had when facing someone. The overall status could be judged by the amount of energy they had.

"Is that true? Is that normal to happen?"

"Of course not! It took me a long time to reach my current tier. Considering that I'm still in the early tier 4 at 55."

Sara nodded her head. The last incident they found about Logan was enough to make them worry. Logan was unconscious for a week, then came back to his senses with an almost completely changed personality. Although it was undeniable, her feelings as a mother were still sure that he was their same son.

"Don't worry, I'm sure he will be ok."

"Of course, I'll never doubt it. He is our son."

Sam kissed his wife's forehead, then let go of the hug and looked into his wife's face.

"Anyway, I need to go to the town hall."

"What's happening?"

"Princess Baneth, she will come soon."

"Princess Baneth? What will she do here? Isn't she one of the strongest people in the kingdom?"

Baneth Wiley was the youngest daughter of King Toby, the king of the Beris Kingdom. Even though the Beris Kingdom was the weakest on the western continent, they had a very talented person who might become a prominent leader in the future. Baneth Wiley, someone who reached tier 5 at 19.

"Yes, there are only 3 people who have reached tier 5 in this Kingdom, and she is one of them, at a very young age."

If at such a young age, Baneth had reached tier 5, then there would be no way she couldn't advance to tier 6 in the next few years. Something like this would significantly affect the Beris Kingdom because the grade of a kingdom was also determined by mapping the power within it. That was also why the three strongest kingdoms had a tier 7 adventurer within them.

"What does she want to do here?"

"I'm not sure, but it seems something important might be happening."

Sam was a well-known person in Deadbay city. He was the leader of the defense forces. Considering a talent like him was rarely found in a kingdom as small as Beris.

Considering how vital Princess Baneth's position was, for that reason, her presence in Deadbay city showed that something big might be about to happen.

Princess Baneth spent most of her time training and hunting monsters. This was the first time she would be coming to a small town like Deadbay, which had nothing of importance except that it was a city on the edge of the mainland, and most of the population lived by the sea.

"See you, honey."

Sam kissed his wife's forehead and walked away, waving.

Sara smiled and lifted the scarf she was wearing, covering her nape. The wind was blowing quite hard that day, and the air temperature was also lower than usual, considering that winter should still be far away.

---

"Alice, can you name the four gods standing there?"

Logan stopped in his tracks, noticing the figures of the four giant statues standing in the front yard of the temple.

"Utar, God of War."

Alice pointed to the statue of a man in armor and a gigantic sword that he stabbed into the ground.

"Ognia, God of Extermination."

This time the figure of a man with two daggers.

"Nether, God of Knowledge."

A man in a robe and a book in his left hand seemed to cast some magic. Judging from appearances, he was the only magic user among the other three.

"Iddall, God of Strength."

This time, Alice pointed at the figure of a man who was standing casually and not using any weapons like the other three.

When Logan felt that everything that happened in this place matched his story, that instant, he encountered the first thing that didn't fit in.

"How can there be four gods?"

"Huh?"

Alice watched Logan's curious face.

"Brother? Shouldn't there be six gods?"

Logan turned to Alice, again startled by another fact.

"Six Gods?"

"Yes. There's Terona, Goddess of Beauty, and Geva, Goddess of Luck."

Judging from the names of Gods mentioned by Alice, Logan related them to the status possessed by the adventurer. If there were only four God statues in this place, they might only represent the four basic statuses, Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, and Constitution. Every adventure must choose one of four paths for the class they will accept and live in.

And for the other two Goddesses, maybe they were in charge of Charisma and Luck, which were indeed unique.

However, among the six God names, Logan had not heard of any by the name of Zyltic, the first God he met, the God who claimed to have created this world.

"Alice…"

Logan was curious about any changes in this world, which would also determine how he would respond. Of course, Logan didn't want the slightest move he took to put him in a difficult situation. He wanted to live in peace, only with the people he cared about.

"Yes, brother?"

"Are you sure there are only six gods in this world?"

Alice fell silent at Logan's question, then looked down, pressed a finger to her lips, looking thoughtful.

"Actually, no."

"Is there a God named Zyltic?"

Alice looked up, then covered her brother's mouth with her palm. The passers-by around them also stopped and looked at Logan.

Alice dragged her brother away, jogged, speeding up her run. They reached a corner of the shop that was quieter than where they had been standing before. Alice stopped, holding her gasping breath.

"Brother, never mention that name. The name of a God of Calamity."
