"Sure, Let's go."
The time was in the afternoon, a little more towards evening. Although it was only a short period, with what Logan had done today, it felt quite long. Getting to meet some strange people was enough to make his tension rise.
Alice guided Logan towards the city's exit with a face filled with enthusiasm. In a little while, she will witness firsthand the power possessed by her brother.
They walked in silence, Logan spending his time thinking about the various plans he would make. His thoughts were halted when he came across a large iron gate that led them outside the outskirts of Deadbay.
A woman was standing there. Someone in tight pants and clothes and a brown leather jacket. A woman with blonde hair tied along her back that looked slightly disheveled. She should be the one assigned to guard Deadbay City's exit gate.
"Hey, Alice… what are you doing here?"
"Hi, Eliza..."
Logan silently let Alice do her job, seeing as they knew each other.
"Can I help you with something? Is this stupid boy doing something weird to you?"
'What??? Stupid boy?'
Logan glared at the woman. She knows Alice intimately but doesn't recognize Logan, who should be her brother. Of course, she knew Alice because Alice often accompanied his Mother to deliver food to the defense forces. But is Logan so unpopular that it is so easy to ignore his existence?
Alice chuckled, then looked at Logan and smiled. "Eeeh… He is my brother."
Eliza, the woman with messy hair, approached Logan, close enough that her nose almost touched Logan's face.
"How come such a weak-looking man like him is the Son of Captain Sam?"
'Tch!'
Logan turned his face away. He had had enough of dealing with strange people today. Not anymore, with a woman who was not the least bit worthy in his eyes.
"What do you want, kid?"
Eliza opened her mouth, throwing the whiskey scent right in Logan's face.
"Let me go outside."
"For what reasons?"
"Monster hunting. What else?"
Eliza took a step back, again paying attention to Logan's appearance, which didn't seem the slightest bit in a state of fighting. He also did not carry a weapon. Then what would he hunt monsters with?
"What? How come such a young man like you is doing something like that?"
Eliza spat, then walked over and faced Alice.
"Hey Alice, are you sure he is your brother?"
Alice nodded her head.
"Yes, he is my brother. And he is not weak. He recently awakened his D-Grade Class and even borrowed a tier 2 weapon with a soul stone by Fokil."
Suddenly, a shocked expression appeared on Eliza's face. Someone who has a poor relationship with Sam but easily lends a weapon to his son? Something like that didn't even make sense to her.
Eliza was silent, looking thoughtful. However, there was no way Alice would tell a lie. She is a sweet child who is so innocent and obedient to her parents.
Eliza stared back at Logan's face. The young man looked a little like Sam, their captain. She raised her right palm, trying to cover Logan's mouth. Then imagine if the young man had a thick beard. Eliza nodded her head.
Logan raised an eyebrow, responding to Eliza's curious face.
The woman then walked away and opened the iron gate, which was enough to load 3 carriages simultaneously.
Several other guards sitting at the guard post just watched what Eliza was doing, then continued with their activities. Drinking alcohol during the day while on guard duty.
"What about her?"
Eliza glanced at Alice, intending to ask if they would go out together.
"She is in my protection. You don't need to worry about my sister's safety."
Logan and Alice immediately stepped out, leaving Eliza standing where she was. Alice still took the time to wave her hand.
Eliza was still watching in astonishment at what she had just witnessed.
"Isn't it wrong that he is the captain's son, and Fokil, who is hostile to him, lent him a weapon? How? If it wasn't Alice who said that, I probably wouldn't have believed it."
Eliza closed the gate.
"At least the fate of this kingdom will get better in the future, if there are more people with potential like him."
She walked back to her place of the vigil, sitting down.
"So I can be more content to enjoy my peaceful time… Huagh…. Let's go Captain's Son!!!"
***
Logan walked pretty quickly, followed by Alice through the meadow near the enormous wall surrounding the town of Deadbay. At the end of their view was a line of trees leading up to the forests. There were where monsters with a low tier were located.
When they reached the forest's edge, they came across a wooden fence with several crystal spheres on each pillar. The crystal sphere were barriers installed to prevent monsters from crossing the line. Although this treatment is only helpful for monsters tier 2 and below and some monsters with tier 3.
Logan immediately jumped over the 1-meter high fence, then stretched out his hand to Alice.
"E… but brother, Dad told me we are not supposed to cross that fence."
Even though monsters tier 2 and below are considered quite manageable even by classless humans, they are still dangerous. Especially if they come in large numbers. Therefore, those who are actually allowed to cross the fence are only those intending to raise their status.
"Don't worry, I'm with you."
Alice followed Logan's words and then jumped over the fence.
Logan strolled casually through rows of tall trees with their dark black trunks. The trees didn't stand close enough together, so they could still easily walk in until they found the path provided for those who wanted to hunt in this place.
"Brother, is it ok for me to come here?"
"Don't worry, there are only tier 1 or 2 monsters around here. That would be easy for me."
Logan recalls the Dagger stored in Inventory. Again, a curious expression appeared on Alice's face.
"Brother, where have you been hiding that weapon before?"
Logan realized maybe even Alice herself had never seen someone use an inventory before. Even though his father was at a reasonably high tier, he couldn't afford it.
Logan turned to Alice, who was following behind him, about to explain Inventory, but stopped when he saw Alice's eyes closed and her body fell to the ground.
"Alice!"
Logan jumped to catch his sister's body. Then knelt down and looked in different directions. He couldn't remember what monsters were in this place, trying to figure out what was happening.
'Pssshhh, such a weak creature!!! Don't compare your poisons to mine!!!'
The voice of the serpent's soul whispering again was heard in the dagger in Logan's hand.
