Chapter 2 - wish upon a star

Where was she? Everything burned. Her entire body was paper being put through a shredder. She pleaded to every force imaginable to relieve her of her suffering. In an act of desperation, she broke her promise, yet again.

"Horus! Help me. Where are you?"

She struggled to lift herself amidst the overwhelming heat. The tears welling in her eyes began to evaporate.

"Horus, where are you?" The area around her was absolutely desolate. There was nothing but obsidian around her.

Her voice echoed and echoed, but a response never arrived. Suddenly, a large hand firmly grasped her shoulder.

"Horus! There you are... you scared me. Why didn't you say anything?"

The voice that answered back did not belong to Horus. It was prickly, and scratched her ears so fervently she wished she couldn't hear.

{Well. How did a child end up down here?}

"Who- who are you?" Her body began convulsing. She began sweating more profusely, creating a smokescreen as it evaporated. Her body was utilizing every instinctual death avoidance response, but she did not move an inch. Was it the fear or the heat preventing her bodily autonomy? She did not know. The fact of the matter was, she was unable to run.

{You can call me Mr. Star, Eris. Now answer my question.}

"I d- don't even know where I am." She jotted her eyes towards any direction where he wasn't as he circled her. He watched intently, and seemed to derive pleasure from her fear. He reached his hand toward her chin and locked her gaze with his.

{Hmmm. So that's what happened.}

{You're in hell, Eris. You lived a short life filled with many wrongdoings and ended up here.}

Eris' body attempted to accommodate the overwhelming shock along with the fear and immense pain. It failed, and she started to break down.

"B-b-but then, I- I..only... only because I had to.." her sentence trailed off.

{You didn't do anything wrong.}

The words from the man, strangely, relieved her.

"Then... why am I here?" she asked, her head tilting innocently.

{I don't know. But I can help you get out.}

"Please..." Eris bowed her head, earnestly asking for his assistance.

{In exchange, when the time comes, you'll do one thing for me.}

"What do I have to do?"

There was no answer.
