Chapter 30 - EXCHANGE OF WORDS THROUGH THE COURTS

Principle of the courts? What was the existing principle of the courts? In Neirin's perspective, there were few principles that these nine guild head courts held.

The first one was, the protection of the courts will no matter what be prioritize despite all of the arguments, disputes, and chaos. The court was the sanctuary of the people who were wretched, they do not have any where to go, hence, the protection of the court was the most important rule and principle they held.

All the nine guild head members move in accordance to this principle. No matter how greedy and selfish they were, the guild heads will always protect what was important to them.

The second principle they adhere was, every nine guild heads were equal in the sight of the headmaster. There will be no prejudices and biases even if they're blood related, nor the race, religion, rank, or recognized name.

The third, the nine guild leaders, if there was any dispute against them, parley in the presence of the guild headmaster before risking the welfare of their guild or the court of miracles. Physical attack on a member is considered an act of war. They must have a permission before they enter the guild houses.

The fourth, if any of the guild leaders had an activity that put the livelihood and safety of those people in the court of miracles, the lord of the courts which was the headmaster will deal with the appropriately sanctions for the protection of everyone in the courts.

Fifth, The children and woman will be protected no matter what.

Lastly, the sixth principle, each person may divide their spoils and loot only after sharing with the guild lord. If the lord had deemed their loot and spoils to be irrelevant, it will be left for them to decide if the members will keep them or not.

These were the six principle that the duke had mentioned to the guild leaders and members long ago. In what Neirin knew, if there was someone who disobeyed even one of the sixth rules and principles, then, death was the only thing waiting for them.

Of course, Neirin already knew that these guild leaders, whom famous for their cruelty, knew such principles and do not need to mention them.

Neirin tapped the table getting all of their attention once again. Eyes shifted to her direction. She smiled with confidence. The crystal orb glow with the color of white signifying that all of the members had agreed to what she just said.

"Please state," Neirin uttered without any hesitation. "If we're going to strengthen the imperial family, would it be a shield for us or, would it be a poison that would kill us in the very end?"

With the question being uttered again, the nine guild heads looked at each other. The white light on the crystal orb changed. Neirin smiled inwardly making Neirin see through everyone's emotions. Others were thinking deeply what to do. They had considered this question quite serious while the others had a rather cool colors making them look like they don't care.

"Your grace," Neirin shifted her gaze. Eyes landed to the seat closed to the door. The voice belonged to a man. This man was wearing a uniform that nobles can usually see inside the casino or any gambling places. He was wearing a dark red vest and a black sleeves. His brown eyes glow with mischief and trickery and looking at his right hand, he was playing with a two black dice rolling it onto his palms.

From what Neirin knew from the past, this man was a dealer in a very popular casino run of by a noble. He was the manager of the place. And as far as Neirin knew, he knew more secrets that Ellian.

Neirin gave a meaningful smile. "Mr. Adam Lucrenze."

All eyes landed on the two who were talking. Adam smiled without any change of expression. From the looks of it, he was not surprise that the lady knew his name. He was quite well known to every noble in the empire for his games and tricks. He loved playing other peoples mind like a toy and often times, he sleeps with every madam he fancies.

"I am quite honored that your grace already knows me." Adam shot his shot for words full of flattery. Neirin chuckled not minding how his eyes glisten with a desire Neirin had seen to people from her previous life.

He had an enormous amount of greed it was quite scary. "You are someone who was popular among ladies, Mr. Lucrenze. They tell me stories." Neirin mysteriously answered.

Of course, everyone inside the room had understood what the Neirin meant. Adam Lucrenze popularity and reputation had long spread to the entire continent that even beggars and commoners knew who he was.

Before Adam could answer, Neirin had already changed the subject. "However, I am not here to hear such stories but your point of view. Now that you have raised your hand, should I assumed that you have topics and information that contribute to the matters I am presenting?"

Adam nodded full of confidence. "Of course, your grace. I have heard news and gossips inside the gamblers hall and I ought to share it with every one us here."

"Have you thought that your rumors and words simply meant that they are really just rumors without any basis, Lucrenze?" Another voice butted in. All eyes shifted to the one seated on the opposite side. She pushed her glasses on her eyes appearing to be arrogant and smart.

Adam scoffed eyes full of mockery. The light from the crystal orb turned yellow and black. From the looks of it, he did not like what Ellian had done. "Do you think I am dumb enough not to distinguish any rumors to an actual information?" He rolled his eyes. "If a liar like you can do it, I could mostly do it too."

"I am just making sure that you can still think clearly after tasting so many women." Ellian countered. The crystal orb turned red signifying that she was angry but her expression had told them that she was calm and rational.

"You should not fret too much, Graze and you should filter every information on your mind so know what was the truth beyond all of the lies you created. If you can do that, perhaps your life span might stretch since everyone you slandered had already thinking of killing you."

"How dare--" Ellian had blushed like a ripe tomato the moment Adam had said that but before everything went down to a fight,

"Stop, both of you! We are in the presence of the headmaster!" the man beside Adam uttered.

This man had a white hair but he did not appear to be old, instead, he was quite handsome. Fair skin and dark eyes. His eyes looked deep as though he was dreaming and he wore a dark cloak with different symbols of embroidery. According to Neirin's memory, this man was the guild master of the guild of dreamers. Or a place called for those who dreams.

The guild of dreamers was the most popular and safe guild in all of the court of miracles. The people in this guild often believe in magic and dreams hence, they would be the interpreters of such phenomenon.

Not just that, they perform also in every places. They were the lost souls who wanted to pursue what they love and often in theaters. However, even though they looked quite normal, the people inside the guild of dreamers had been treated severly in their past for people had thought that their dreams were all worthless. Most of them had been in the deaths door and for that, after they found the court of miracles who take refuge to then, they won't hesitate to kill at all.

This man, Theodore Moretti was someone who had his past unknown.

Different from all of the guild members whose past was like an open book to all, this man was nonexistent before he was found by the duke. Moreover, he respect every people and their privacy no matter what even though he was a guild leader himself. Hence, most of all the members respect him.

Both Ellian and Adam shut their mouths and reverted back to their respected expressions. Neirin chuckled inwardly as though it did not matter to her if a fight broke out. Well of course it was only an act. She had panicked a little bit that was all.

"Then, can we hear what you have to say Adam?"

"Yes your grace," Adam started. All of the people inside were silent for they were all paying attention to him.

"I have heard from the noble gentlemen inside the walls of the gambler house that the crown prince had been looking for people whom he can trust. He had also been segregating nobles based on their power and usage, your grace. Perhaps the house of Halstead had been already in his list."

Adam continued. "There was also another information the the young crown prince had been in dispute with his father countless of times but then appeared to be harmonious. Furthermore, before the killings had happened your grace, the emperor had issued for an ancient history and customs to be opened up once again. However, no nobles had known what it was an it was highly confidential."
