Chapter 116 - DOOR OF MISFORTUNE 

Death penalty. 

Back a few years ago, the death penalty has been widely used by the aristocrats. Even with the slightest sin used against the nobility, the nobles were ruthless in giving punishments. However, they were also hypocrites behind their noble titles. 

Hence, Cassius's grandfather, Emperor Gideon Hendrous's father, abolished such punishment. However, he had written an exemption that if a person had sinned against the people and their gods, then a punishment suitable for death would be given.

Cassius never thought that after the abolishment, his father, the sole emperor himself, would be the first to experience the death penalty after a few decades. 

The crowd was eager. All of them anticipated what was about to happen. Different whispers were heard from the crowd, however. Cassius did not hear any pity from the public; instead, they blamed everything that had happened to the emperor. 

"He was greedy."
