Chapter 23 - Trail Reward

"Your master?" Jiang Fan raised his eyebrows, a spark of interest igniting within him.

If the Planet, in terms of volume, is man-made, the strength of this builder must have surpassed that of a Level 6 Planet Master. Such a feat, unattained by any in the Endless Star Territory or the Abyss, would leave no room for doubt. A Level 7 Planet Master, with their power, could single-handedly dominate all.

"That's correct," The Protoss affirmed with a solemn nod. "To be precise, the Planet was forged by my master before his demise. At that time..." A fleeting memory crossed the Protoss's mind, and he continued, "Master foresaw his potential demise. In his final moments, he exhausted all his wealth and resources to construct this Ancient Star and set it adrift prematurely. It roamed, seeking a successor."

"Can such a powerful being perish?" Jiang Fan blinked, finding the notion unbelievable.

"Powerful being?" The Protoss shook his head with a sigh. "To you, the master may indeed seem formidable. But consider the wider cosmos; there are countless beings mightier than the master. The path of a Planet Master knows no bounds. Even the master's existence was not immune to the precariousness of life."

"Very well," The Protoss said, turning his gaze to Jiang Fan. "For now, curb your curiosity. Wait until you ascend to a level akin to the master's. Then, I shall divulge the reasons."

"Is there any benefit for me in passing the test?" Jiang Fan inquired directly.

The Protoss's intentions were evident; he recognized Jiang Fan's potential and sought to designate him as the Ancient Star's successor. For a Planet of such caliber, its resources would be abundant and exceedingly rare and precious. Yet, if the conditions were too stringent to accept, the Protoss diplomatically broached the subject. With the age of the old being unknown, his true intentions remained inscrutable, whether they leaned toward malevolence or benevolence.

Jiang Fan nodded readily.

"You're quite forthright," The Protoss remarked, a smile playing on his lips. "In all my years, I've encountered numerous geniuses, some even bordering on prodigious. Yet, none have been as forthright as you. It's refreshing. From this, it's evident that only those with unwavering self-assurance dare to be so audacious. For you, Jiang Fan, obtaining the Ancient Star's inheritance would indeed be auspicious."

"The rewards are forthcoming," The Protoss declared, his smile widening slightly. "For this trial, I've prepared 3 rewards in total. However, you may only choose one."
