Lui Chen's nimble hands tapped the phone screen and easily typed the password of the device. He checked the settings and updated the facial recognition software to his new appearance as well as his fingerprint screen lock.
After a few seconds of updating the settings of the phone, he finally opened another app to book a cab.
While waiting for his ride to arrive, he grabbed the laptop in the suitcase and opened it. On the side of its power button, just above the 'esc' key, there was a small chip taped carefully on it.
With Lui Chen's long fingers scraping the tape, he easily removed the chip effortlessly. 'You made this reincarnation so much easier!' Lui Chen stared for it and curled his lips into a smile.
He used this micro storage to run and execute a special command in the laptop's software. With it, he easily updated everything including the arrangements to all his property ownership.
In just a matter of minutes, the trace of his identity as Chao Cheung in the laptop could no longer be searched, not even his email.
"All done!" he mumbled with a trace of contentment in his eyes.
Just then, the cab pulled over a few feet away from him. The rider hastily called him, "A ride... booked for Mr. Chen?"
"That's me," Lui Chen responded and put back his things inside the suitcase. He then approached the passenger side and pulled the car door open.
The driver offered a polite smile as Lui Chen sat comfortably on the front seat.
"Sir, good evening!" the driver spoke in a respectful tone. Lui Chen only nodded his head. He did not need to speak about his destination as it was already indicated on the booking app.
The driver secretly observed his movement and watched as Lui Chen subconsciously put on a seatbelt.
"Mr. Chen, do you have any request before we leave here?" the driver asked. He glanced at the car that was parked on the side.
"What request?" Lui Chen suddenly looked confused. 'Do cab drivers ask this question to their passengers?' he mentally pondered. It was actually his first time commuting. So, he had no idea of such protocol.
The driver hesitated before pointing to his vehicle. "Well, if your car needs fixing, then, maybe we can call a mechanic? I am just assuming that you may need help."
"Ahh... that's so thoughtful of you, uncle. I have no request. We can leave now," Lui Chen responded without giving a glance at the car. He just look straight ahead of the familiar road and waited for the driver to drive away.
"I see. Then, I'll start driving now, Mr. Chen," the driver responded and drove the car away. They coursed from his private road to the bustling highway until the street became unfamiliar.
Not long after, the cab took a full stop to a small building. "Here is the E-Sports apartment that you've booked as your destination, Mr. Chen. That black gate."
"Thank you," Lui Chen simply replied. He took three crisp paper bills on the side pocket of his suitcase and paid his fare doubled. "Keep the change, uncle," he added before pushing the door open and swiftly leaped out of the car. The suitcase slightly swayed on his side.
Seeing the money that Lui Chen handed to him, the driver's eyes widened. 'This amount is more than enough!' But, before he could react, Lui Chen's figure had already approached the black gate.
"Mr. Chen, thank you!" the driver shouted and Lui Chen only waved his hand. He did not bother to turn his head and look in the driver's direction anymore.
'Let's see your apartment,' Lui Chen spoke in the invisible air and hastily walked inside the building.
The floor of this building was completely carpeted and the walls were designed as soundproof. Lui Chen's had an unreadable expression when he reached his unit and entered inside.
The figure of five males wearing thick black jackets while sitting on the floor and the extreme coldness of the temperature welcomed him. "Ahh, goodness! Damn! This room felt like another world. Why is it so cold?" he subconsciously muttered a complaint.
Hearing his words, the people quickly glared at him.
"I already kicked you out. Why are you still coming over? How thick is your face, useless Chen?" the squad captain spoke with indifference.
"Why is useless Chen here?"
"Oh? It's really him?!"
Lui Chen maintained his eye contact with the captain. The unfair treatment that the original Lui Chen instantly played in his head.
'This so-called captain always picked Lui Chen's mistake and exaggerate it. He called him nasty names. Since you've treatedd me with such hostility, you can only blame yourself. Hehe... useless, you say? Then, I will feed you with your own bitterness and let you suffer and regret everything!'
"Hehe... ex-captain... it's me. Why do you ask why I am here...?" Lui Chen inquired with ignorant expression. He forced a fake smile and walked to his bed and stared at the other male. "Who are you and why are you next to my bed? Ex-captain, who is this stranger, occupying my bed? Where are my things?"
With the chain of questions that he blurted, everyone became more an more irritated.
"We don't welcome useless members in this unit! Your trash was already thrown away," a member spoke. "Besides, captain already kicked you out. You should not be here!"
"That's not right! I was kicked out of your 'proclaimed' perfect squad. But, in the contract, this place is where I live!" Lui Chen argued. His tone was almost helpless. "Ex-captain, I am here because you are incompetent. You should clear your arrangement to the management so that they could give me a new place. Don't act like you own this club, captain. We are the same gamers under them!"
Incompetent!
The word buzzed in everyone's ears like the sound of a gong during ancient wars.
Anyone who is called incompetent would surely be enraged.
The man stood straight and moved his feet next to Lui Chen. He knew that this was a loophole to his decision. But, he hoped that Lui Chen would not find out.
However, since Lui Chen openly spoke about it, the word incompetent surely was like a bullet fired with a headshot. He clenched his hand and formed it into a fist.
"What did you say?! Do you think you will win against the five of us? Could it be that you already forgot that this room is soundproof? Even if you scream, no one will help you!"
"Ex-captain, the moment your fist lay on any part of my body, I will make sure your career is over," Lui Chen even dared to give him a frontal smile, showing all his perfect teeth in front of the man.
"As if I'm afraid to discipline you!" the captain spoke and did not hesitate to throw a punch on Lui Chen's jaw.
But before his fist could land on his target, Lui Chen slightly moved his head, completely dodging the attack. 'You want to punch me? Your parents are not yet born when I lead my troops to war!'
