"G-great sir, please forgive me for stopping you. I failed to recognize you…", he knelt on the ground and started to beg for forgiveness.
The remaining two knights were confused after seeing him do that.
They were about to laugh at him for making a big deal out of nothing when they caught a glimpse of the Gold plated Card.
*gulp*
"Please forgive us.", without seeing any info from it, all they did was ask for forgiveness.
"So, can we enter?", Darion asked.
"Y-yes! Of course!", the knight replied hastily while returning the card.
Darion turned back at Leo and winked again. It was his way of saying – 'Problem solved!'
Leo then passed the guards and so did Darion. He tapped on the knight's left shoulder, gently.
Leo was surprised after seeing their sudden change in behavior. He could hardly believe what had happened.
"Uncle, what is that card? They suddenly changed after you showed it…", he asked Darion who sneakily hid his card within his robe.
He looked at Leo and said, "It's a card for important people."
He smirked as he said that. Although Leo had memories of his past life, he still had yet to know many things about this world. The six years were spent mastering some basic skills and nothing else. In terms of knowledge, he could be comparable to a newborn!
After hearing what Darion said with a smirk, Leo asked, "So, you stole it from someone?"
"Uh…", Darion, who seemed proud a second ago, now stuttered.
It was as if he was finding some random reasons to say.
"A-actually…"
"That-"
Leo instantly knew that he had indeed stolen, in fact, this was something a normal person would really think!
He said, "Sigh, uncle, I am surprised…"
"Surprised?"
"Yes."
"As you said, this card belongs to someone important, so how were you able to steal it from him?"
"You must be really talented…", Leo said as he sighed.
"Haha, of course, I am. I steal the hearts of all the women that see me!", he said something useless which forced Leo to kick him in his leg.
"Ouch…"
"It's not a compliment!", Leo said his voice a bit only after which he sighed yet again.
Well, Darion was indeed talented in stealing stuff. As it was mentioned earlier, he was even able to steal from a Supreme General. It was indeed something to be awe at even if the Supreme General was drunk.
Darion was just joking. He was indeed trying to hire something on the card, but oh well, his privacy was respected.
Leo and Darion continued to walk for some time before reaching a small stall. The stall had two tables just outside where there were a few customers drinking some drinks and eating meals.
Darion asked, "Why don't we have lunch?"
Leo rolled his eyes when he heard Darion say that.
"Don't know about you but I have no money on me. The reason why we came here was to sell the beast's corpse, so instead of eating, let's finish our task.", Leo urged Darion to keep moving when his stomach grumbled.
Although the orphanage was poor, the kids were not once starved or were left in hunger. Leko and Ai made sure that they were fed properly at every mealtime.
Leo hadn't eaten since the morning and it was already about to be evening, it was obvious that his stomach will grumble once he was reminded of the food!
"Your stomach begs to differ, haha.", Darion laughed as he called out to the owner of the stall.
"Sir, two medium-sized meals please.", he ordered.
"Yes, bringing right away. Please have a seat.", a person having a mustache and relatively darker skin said in a humble voice as he looked at Darion after hearing his order.
One table was filled with customers while the other was completely empty. Darion walked towards the second table and waved at Leo to come and join him.
Leo, hesitantly enough, joined Darion. He pulled the small cart with him and placed it just beside him. Even as he sat on the small bench near the table, he placed his left hand on the cart just to be safe.
The meal came along and they ate. The stall owner was curious about the cart that Leo was carrying.
"What is in that? It smells a bit weird…", he said.
The body had already started to smell and it was no longer in its best condition. Of course, it wasn't in its worst condition either.
Though, as time passed, its value kept decreasing because of the decrease in good condition.
Leo seemed worried. He leaned a bit towards Darion and asked, "Look, it has started to go bad…"
"It would have been best if we sold it and then decided to eat…", Leo said.
He didn't argue with Darion anymore about the cost as Darion flashed three copper coins and handed them to the owner as soon as the food was served.
1 copper coin was for a small-sized meal. As for medium-sized, it cost 1.5 copper, however, since there wasn't half, for a single meal, it cost 2 copper coins as for two meals, it cost 3.
Darion then turned towards the owner and said, "We are actually going to the auction house to sell a few things, I hope you don't mind the smell of these Herbs."
'Herbs?', Leo realized that Darion was trying to hide the fact that they were carrying a beast's body.
He didn't bother him and finished the meal right after which, both of them left the stall and continued to walk.
But as they left, the table near them, which was occupied by a group, suddenly got up.
"Herbs…? I think it is a beast…", said one of them.
They were wearing some normal clothes. They couldn't be identified as someone rich, nor did they seem too poor from their clothes. Though, they did seem a bit barbaric.
"Beast…?", asked one of them.
There were five in total.
"Yes, look at those small blood trails…", said the bulked-up man with a sword in his left arm.
He pointed at the little droplets of blood that Leo hadn't noticed, that leaked from the black clothing and kept scattering around.
The black clothing kept soaking it since earlier, but since they waited at the same place, more and more blood kept leaking which the cloth could no longer handle.
"So brother, is he our next prey?", asked a thin man, who sat right next to the bulked-up guy.
"…"
