"Greetings, Royal Father," I said, kowtowing to the Emperor in his main hall.
He waved for me to get up, coughing into his fist as the eunuch helped put on his robes.
"How have things been, Xin Yu? Anything too difficult to handle?" the Emperor asked in raspier voice than usual.
"Not at all, Majesty. Xin Yu is honoured to do her part for the nation," I replied with a grin.
The Emperor sat down at the tea table when he was done being clothed in his gold robes, gesturing for me to join him.
I did, sitting down and folding my hands together in my lap. I had opted to wear a thinner purple dress, three phoenixes running down each sleeve.
Even then, the heat in Di Huang Tang was beginning to make me sweat. It looked like Royal Father was still burning coal in the heating plates.
It was the middle of Spring. My fifth month of being Crown Princess.
I had been conducting my greetings to the Emperor and Empress as per usual.
