Chapter 11 - Chapter Eleven Deja Vu

Life is full of surprises.

When I arrived at my destination I used to take a train to reach the other town to negotiate with my boss for business purposes.

It's a long journey and the weatherman predicted a clear day, not one that was warm, but sunny enough for the beginning of the spring but it rained that day instead.

Few passengers boarded the train and it's quite boring to have to chitchat with them so I decided to remain in my seat. I remembered the dull night of black Saturday where we met with my fellow passengers on the train it makes me feel humiliated but I move on even though the memory still haunted me, especially in my dreams every time I close my eyes. It will never leave me for the rest of my life.

For a few minutes, I sense a strange feeling- a feeling of déjà vu. Suddenly, a familiar smell wafted over me. The smell of smoldering ash, rotten eggs with farts. I could only feel disbelief at first. Now, I feel fear.

Someone visited me like an old friend.

For a very long time when I encountered the demon and the smell came into my life, I imagined that if I ever tried to tell anyone about it, I'd end up as one of the crazy people. At that time, I thought that was a fate worse than death.

I couldn't think of anywhere else to go, anyone who I could tell.

Then I realized that there was something I could do.

I remembered what Stella said.

"Keep it close to your heart,"

So I followed her instruction I reached into my shirt and hold the pendant of Saint Benedict close to my heart until I saw him again, he smirked and watch me inside the train but he can't reach me because he was terrified of my pendant. After all, it can harm him. Unable to get near. I guess it protected me so this is a great chance to recite prayers.

"Help me, great St. Benedict, to live and die as a faithful child of God, to run in the sweetness of His loving will and to attain the eternal happiness of heaven. Amen."

After that short prayer, I feel relieved and it keeps my mind relax. To open my eyes the devil vanished and nowhere to be seen. I looked around but there's no sign of him, I didn't smell death or anything decay. So I focused to wait for my arrival and then we managed to reach our destination.

I was about to stand and wait for the door to open when I saw some fellow passengers who wore a different style of rings.

RING.

I felt a terrible fright.

But now it is different. They wore rings with special characters, I mean the elements were present engrave from the ring: WATER, AIR, EARTH, FIRE, ICE, and NATURE.

I saw other people who wore it but then we are about to walk out of the door and I move forward without knowing what would happen next to my destination.

After I glance back I never see them again that day.

My whole day gave me a sense of wariness even though I finally succeeded with my negotiation with my new boss in my new job.

I hope that they will never abandon God just for the exchange of the deal.

Evil gave us the temptation to test our faith in God.

And for me, I choose to Trust God.

After 1 month ago.

Ring!Ring! Ring!

The phone rang. I answered the phone and my cousin Robert told me he won from a raffle on the train. They are composed of 6 contestants who won cash prizes, free 3days vacation in Caribean and they got gold rings as a souvenir.

I was terrified when I ask him to describe his ring.

The water element was engraved in the ring.

Robert got his on fear but not in water so what does the water represent then?

And then I realized I was stupid enough to notice his presence on the train after a month ago. He is the one who boarded the train and wore the water ring.

I got a bad premonition about that ring. I keep on asking him but he's such in a hurry because of their flights all the way from California and he never missed out on his ticket. That is the last destination of their prize. They are needed to go to California for 6 days vacation and they lunged at the hotel. I was worried about his safety and he never told me about the mechanics of the contest and who gave them the prizes. I guess the Shinigami got another idea to lure his victims and now he got another hideout. CALIFORNIA I have to do something to stop him but how?

"Look! Robert, you have to leave and you don't have to go to complete your prize. There's something I need to tell you."

"What? what are you talking about? are you out of your mind?" He said on the other line.

Robert hangs up and he cut our conversation without saying goodbye. Maybe he's really in a hurry that day.

I was such lousy not to tell him the truth and now he is in danger.

I looked up in the window of our house and I saw the brightness of sunshine behind the clouds. It is a typical ordinary day but on the other side, it can be deceiving. I never thought that he will vanish and leave me alone but then I was wrong. Back then on the train, I managed to protect myself from him but he got another plan not for myself but my loved ones, and in my family.

I have to tell Stella what happens to Robert and we have to think of a plan on how to protect him and push him away going to California.

I hold the phone and dial the number of her office.

The phone was ringing on the other line.
