I was discharged immediately dahil wala din namang komplikasyon na nakita sa katawan ko but I have to stay in bed and must be observed for a couple of days. The weird thing about the accident is that no one interviewed me, I mean it's really not necessary but I think that happens to be a big news. What are reporters doing now? Come on this could possibly be a great scope, hindi yung puro na lang politika ang pinagpopost at ginagawang headlines.
Isa pang nakakapagtaka eh wala man lang pulis report na ginawa. No one approached me and asked about my statement. My mind is also filled with thoughts about the guy with a handsome face, I was wondering if he's conscious now and if okay lang ba siya.
"Pa?" I called my Papa na siyang nagbabantay sa akin ngayon.
"What? May kailangan ka?" he replied
"Can we go to the hospital. I have to check on someone" I replied
"Who?" he asked. See he can't run out of questions. Para siyang Pulis officer na nagtatanong ng suspect.
"I wanted to check if the man's alright" I answered honestly. There's no sense in lying dahil kung sakaling papayagan niya akong pumunta sa hospital eh sasamahan din naman niya ako at bubuntot-buntot.
"No need to do that, I was informed that the man was transferred into a hospital in the States dahil under comma ito at may blood clot sa ulo niya"
"Oh" I answered in defeat. Hindi ko man lang siya nakumusta and nadalaw. I pity him, ang lakas din kasi ng pagkakabunggo niya.
Days had pass and I was back to my normal life, I worked, diagnosed patients and faced a lot of of people whose been mentally and emotionally unstable. The flow of my life seemed so fine until a paper containing a warrant of arrest was issued on me.
"Miss Perez sa prisinto ka na magpaliwanag, you have the right to remain silent and get yourself a lawyer, if you do not have the ability to provide one, we will help you with that. Anything that you will say can be used against you" ani ng Pulis officer who happens to be my classmate. Grabe hiyang hiya ako but I was confused, why did I suddenly became a criminal?
Buti na lang talaga at sa bahay pa ako na abutan ng mga pulis na ito, if it happened na sa hospital to nangyari surely, it will cost me my license. Hell no, I could not afford losing my license, pinaghirapan kong makuha to. The good thing upon arriving sa police station ay hindi nila ako kaagad pinasok sa loob ng selda. I would not love to enter that filthy cell as well.
"Excuse me sir, can I use the telephone?" tanong ko sa pulis na naka assign sa information desk. Agad niya namang inabot to sakin and then I immediately called my dad.
"Pa, help me out. Nasa prisinto ako" I said at halatang-halata sa boses ko ang pangamba
"What have you done this time Margaux?" sigaw ni papa sa kabilang linya
"Pa, promise, I did nothing wrong, nagulat na lang ako when men in uniforms issued me a warrant of arrest accusing me of attempted murder." I answered
"I'll call the lawyer, stay put and DON'T DO ANYTHING that will make you more miserable. I'll call Melissa too" may diin niyang sagot.
I returned the telephone and thanked the Pulis. Nagtataka ako, sino kayang nagsampa sa akin ng kasong ganto? If ever namn may magsampang pasyente because of wrong diagnosis, eh sana pinatawag muna ako ng hospital's head and given the proper suction. Sino kayang nagsampa sa akin ng ganito? Nasa ganun akong pag-iisip ng biglang dumating ang abogado ng pamilya ko at si Melissa.
"Hey!" I said
"Don't hey me! What have you done? Tell me every detail! Oh my gosh you will make me crazy!" histerikal na ika ni Melissa
"Could you please breathe first? Parang ikaw tung nakakulong at sinampahan ng attempted murder na kaso eh kung maka react ka"
"What ever you say Mar, but please enlighten me, anong nangyari? Bakit nagkaganito?"
"Even me don't have the slightest idea kung bakit nagkaganito. I was served with a warrant of arrest for breakfast. Naniniwala ka naman sakin diba na hindi ako mamatay tao?"
"Mar, I've been with you all my life because you're my ate. Although you are careless and pasaway, I know you wouldn't do that. We were raised to be kind and to have good intentions kaya alam kong hindi mo yun magagawa."
"Thank you for still believing in me, I really need that especially now that everyone doubts me"
"I'm sure papa will do something together with attorney to clean your name" Melissa said and gave me a hug full of assurance
Non-bailable ang kasong isinampa sa akin but there were still no concrete evidences na magtuturo na guilty talaga ako that is why, nakapag bail out kami up until the first court's trial. Mabuti na lang din at may kapit kami sa itaas that's why napadali ang processing ng release papers ko. My case needs to undergo a lot of procedures because we pleeded not guilty. I don't care taking the long way kung reputasyon at pangalan naman ng pamilya ko ang pag-uusapan.
"Here's your release papers Miss Perez, I'm so sorry I have to wake you up with warrant of arrest, sinusunod ko lang ang trabaho ko" Maverick said. He was the police officer na nag aresto sakin kanina who happens to be my classmate in highschool
"It's okay Mav, thank you!"
"You're welcome Mar, you can call me if you need help" he said before walking back inside the station
Tumikhim si Melissa and gave me a look. Yun bang tingin na animo'y binubugaw niya ako kay Maverick. Itong mahaderang to talaga, nasa ganitong sitwasyon na nga kami nagagawa niya pang lumandi. Inirapan ko na lang siya at sakto namang lumabas mula sa prisinto si attorney. He had to do some errands like inquiring when would be the first trial and such.
"Okay, we still have 3 more days to gather information that will prove your innocence Margaux. For the meantime, you stay at home at wag kang maglalalabas kasi delikado. Your father is still trying to stop na makarating tung issue na to sa media. We have to control its exposure"
"Okay po Attorney. Thank you for helping me out"
"No problem, I'll expect your full cooperation in this case Miss Perez. Do you still have questions ladies? May pupuntahan pa akong meeting after this" he said
"Can I know the name sa nagsampa sa akin ng kasong ito?" I asked
"Oh that! Missis Landiego filled the case"
"Who is she?"
"The mother of Ashton Phoenix Landiego, the one you helped during the car accident"
Sabay kaming napa "What" ni Melissa. I could not believe that after the kindness na ibinigay ko sa kanya eh I'll get a warrant of arrest in return. How shameless his family could be?
