As much as Ashley wanted to bury her face and hide due to embarrassment, she knew that she has no time to waste being self conscious at the moment.
She figured that she had to make some haste if she wanted to make it on time to class. She was at the risk of running late for her exam!
Thus, she rushed to the exam room silently praying that she was not running out of luck for that day.
'Phew!'
The girl heaved huge a sigh of relief as soon as she noticed that they have not started yet.
Good for her, she arrived two minutes earlier than the proctor assigned to oversee their test and her day went on smoothly from that point onward exam day ended without any other mishap again. Perhaps, aside from the occasional flashback she was having during the exam.
The second the bell rang, everyone hustled to exit the four corners that tortured their brain cells for the entire day. Amidst their commotion, one could hear their overlapping conversation of the students here and there.
"As usual, Math almost killed me. I. Barely. Survived!"
Ayesha, their class' boy magnet, declared dramatically. Fluttering her eyelash extension at each word of her last statement.
On the other hand, another girl donning a similar cheek and pastel pink outfit as Ayesha, seconded her and said, "I know right! I really can't understand the importance of finding X and how it is related to our course of fashion design."
Then, etting out one quick exasperated sigh, this same girl rolled her eyes while adding, "It's not like we can design a gown by solving an equation."
"I reckoned that they should just stop finding their "X" and moved on. They only complicate things."
"Are we still talking about the same "X" here?"
Ashley could not help but giggle upon hearing the exchange of the two knuckle heads. But she made sure to keep it to herself to avoid attracting unnecessary attention towards her.
The aftermath of the stressful examination day has not yet subsided. In fact, the end of class for only the start of it as more and more students were talking it out to their peers.
While she was collecting her things and packing her bag to get ready and leave, Ashley used this time to listen to her classmates as well.
"Did you get the answer to question thirty-eight?"
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure it is zero, I even double checked my solution before passing the answer sheet."
"For real?! Oh shocks! Mine is negative sixty-four. Just don't ask me how I get to that answer, 'coz I am not sure either."
"Geez! I guess my only chance to pass this test relies on the essay part at the back then."
"There is a part at the back too? How come I did not notice it?"
"You mean to say you have no essay? That cover at least ten points! What a waste."
Hearing this, Ashley shook her head while smiling to herself because honestly, she also almost missed the back part.
"So, how did you fare today?"
Out of nowhere, someone approached Ashley from behind. But even before she could see her, the other party already knew who was the owner of this voice.
"Thankfully, burning the midnight oil paid off. By the way, thanks for this. You are such a big help."
She insinuated to Alliyah with a grateful smile, all the while handling her back the reviewer she let her borrow the other night.
"Come on, don't mention it. That's what friends are for."
Alliyah responded, pulling Ashley closer and hooking her arms to her instead of accepting the reviewer back.
"If you really are that grateful, then treat me to lunch. I am starving, I can eat a whole horse on one sitting."
Alliyah added and the two laughed as they made their way to the corridor.
"I believe the job of feeding you, princess, is already taken. Look who is coming? Your boyfriend, Cedric . Speaking of the devil."
Ashley said after a short while when she caught sight of the familiar figure from a distance
Over all, the examination had its fare share of difficulty, but it was still manageable.
The reviewer which Alliyah lend her covered most of the questions included in the test paper and this made it relatively easier for Ash to answer everything.
She may not be as good as her straight A's friend to get a perfect score, but she was confident that she could expect to get above average result.
